Adam was probably the most believable Autistic movie character that I had seen, until I watched Salmon Fishing in the Yemen. Adam is very intelligent and although socially isolated is able to work. By the end of the movie he has secured employment which is both intellectually appropriate and fulfilling. The ‘Official Trailer’ had a patronizing ‘feel good’ voice-over. I will leave the rest up to the viewer 🙂.

This 2006 made for TV British movie is based on the true story of a young couple whose only child, Kyle in the movie, has severe autism. After Thomas is an intimate movie, as television films often are, but avoids the fly on the wall feel that TV movies sometimes deliver. The film deals with the painful issues of residential schooling as well as relationship strains on loving parents of Autistic children.
