slow motion fast train: January 2009
http://wheelturning.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 19. My 175 year old friend points and says "there's Bobama. Bobama's nose". In a youtube address president-elect Obama recognized the country's concern, worry and tired minds. . One of the statements he made was, (memory quote/unofficial) "Parents are worried that their children will not receive the same kind of opportunity they did" . Thank you Martin Luther King Jr. for progression of necessary things. May we try to follow. Monday, January 12. We got started on this topic by discussing ...

slow motion fast train: If I could prevent my sister from 5 things.
http://wheelturning.blogspot.com/2010/01/if-i-could-prevent-my-sister-from-5.html
Saturday, January 9. If I could prevent my sister from 5 things. Here's one. I wish that she would not see procrastination as an option. Sure brainstorming under pressure is exciting. Not leaving enough hours to do the best you could do- horrible. Stressful. Not worth it. My acquaintance with procrastination explains why this is my first break today to eat. I hope I can produce a nice finished cookbook for my grandma by the close of this evening. Because she deserves the best! 03 February, 2010 14:13.

slow motion fast train: Save me some daylight
http://wheelturning.blogspot.com/2010/03/save-me-some-daylight.html
Sunday, March 14. Save me some daylight. I am a little excited about dlst (day light savings time) I figure if I explain abbreviations or acronyms, (so many are like hard word problems these days) ( but I love a good word problem) I will save you time trying to figure out my meaningless thought. So for the next couple of weeks (because no we are not breaking for spring yet) I will feel very early. Parking in darkness. 15 March, 2010 09:30. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). slow motion fast train: October 2008
http://wheelturning.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, October 16. How did you all decide what you were to be, now that you're grown up? Maybe I watched too many motivational children's programs. This was my career goal for years. I hadn't necessarily thought about how I would get to the successful stage and the years of work and connections it would take. Wouldn't someone walk into Nampa, telling me I was exactly what they were looking for, whisking me off to Hollywood? Today this is what I want to be now that I am supposedly grown up:. A counselo...

life and the rest: Two Year Old Thoughts
http://cspicer.blogspot.com/2009/02/two-year-old-thoughts.html
Wednesday, February 4, 2009. Two Year Old Thoughts. Not thoughts from a two year old, but a few selected thoughts and poems that I wrote in my Creative Writing journal two years ago. Poetry deals with precise objects, and concrete images, not abstract. And out of all the books in the library, I was content with the library girl. I don’t leave any room for truth to conform to music - to lose control of the pen and see where it takes me. Do uncreative people dream about mediocre and boring things? I must r...

life and the rest: Twenty Seven Is A Good Number, Right?
http://cspicer.blogspot.com/2009/01/twenty-seven-is-good-number-right.html
Thursday, January 29, 2009. Twenty Seven Is A Good Number, Right? I love Japanese cinema. I haven't seen nearly as much as I would like, but Akira Kurosawa is one of my top five all time favorite directors. When I go on long drives, I listen to podcasts. Usually Garrison Keilor giving the news from Lake Wobegone, or more recently, You Look Nice Today. People talk to me about my height at least once a day. The first movie I saw in the theater was The Passion of the Christ. I was 18. The earliest memory ...

life and the rest: July 2008
http://cspicer.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, July 31, 2008. This Is Why I'm Hot. I saw this question posed on the internet recently. You have a child that is born deaf. When your child turns 16, they receive implants that allow them to hear. What is the first song that you play for your child? Therefore, I've narrowed it down to four songs. Don't make me choose between these four, please. The Whaler by Thrice. Falling Slowly by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova. Blackbird by The Beatles. And Amazing Grace sung by Aretha Franklin. 10 ...

Thursday, August 7, 2008. Saying Goodbye To Friends. No, I'm not leaving Oregon yet. Not until next week. But I did have to say goodbye to some very dear friends tonight. Twitch, Katee, Courtney and Joshua, you will be missed. In case you don't already know, these were the final four dancers for the show So You Think You Can Dance. The finale was earlier tonight and Joshua took home the title, which was well deserved. And so, in the spirit of life, friendship, and beginnings. As told by Chris Spicer.

Friday, November 14, 2008. Art and Worship Before Work. I had the privilege of playing worship music with a couple other guys at college church this morning. It was only for an hour because I have to go to work soon, but I'm glad I got to be there. While watching the students and their youth pastors paint, I couldn't get the thought of someone making a mistake out of my head. What if one person took liberties with a gross color all over the sky, or painted someone with purple skin? I finished The Red P...
