Tulips are from Kazakhstan: Not all who wander are lost

http://www.tulipsinkazakhstan.blogspot.com/2009/05/not-all-who-wander-are-lost.html

Monday, May 4, 2009. Not all who wander are lost. I have almost no direction right now. I am trying to trust in God and fate that my path becomes more clear as soon as possible. It is a strange feeling to think that you have at least figured out your "home continent" for the next two years only to have that security taken. I have no idea which side of the world I will be on in the next week! I did find a Kazakh cafe though! I plan to go there this evening for a healthy serving of borscht.

Tulips are from Kazakhstan: September 2008

http://www.tulipsinkazakhstan.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

Saturday, September 27, 2008. I am sure they understand (I by NO means give the impression that I am good at speaking Russian), but still. I can’t wait until I speak Russian. Wednesday, September 24, 2008. This was a big week for my adventures in Kazakhstan. Among the most memorable experiences were:. 1) Eating horse and drinking mare’s milk. 2) Gypsy Taxi ride. 3) Hosting a “Gosting” party with my family. We glutinously devour the delicacies. I go for the orange. It was so interesting to see the...Part ...

Tulips are from Kazakhstan: March 2009

http://www.tulipsinkazakhstan.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

Wednesday, March 11, 2009. Spring brings back happiness. Spring also brings people out of their apartments, and I am loving this city more and more as people hit the streets. It was Women's day last Sunday, and the women's group handed out information on women's issues on the street. It was great to see them involved and excited about it. This is what my organization should be doing! Today the Stop Human Trafficking Train is coming into Karaganda. We'll see how that goes. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Monday, May 11, 2009. I gave Peace Corps my heart and my trust and my optimism. And they broke it. I am medically separated because I lost 5 pounds in country. This organization has no idea what they are doing. This is ridiculous, and I feel mistreated. I lost a small amount of weight, which many volunteers do. I was slightly lonely and had less of an appetite. I didn't love the food there. Friday, May 8, 2009. I won't see the spring on the steppe. Monday, May 4, 2009. Not all who wander are lost. Sunday, June 14, 2009. Well, summer camp has begun! Although instead of being overnight camp, it’s day camp, until camp camp opens, which may happen this week! Then back to camp at 4pm for outside activities, crafts, movie time, dinner, discos, and free time until 8pm when I went back home. The bus I usually take home stops running at 8 again leaving me to wonder why I don’t live closer to my school…? Thursday, June 4, 2009. The Workshop began with journals and journal decorating! Sunday, July 26, 2009. I arrived back to site (from Almaty) on Thursday morning. The same day that the circus was in Balkhash! And my site mate and I had tickets! The lion really didn’t do anything except walked out on stage for a bit and walked in a circle. I think it was supposed to do tricks, but didn’t. There was a ginormous snake that the circus man put in his mouth! Other circus acts included clowns juggling fire, dancers, a woman ate fire and one girl even walked on knives! Thursday, September 24, 2009. This month two of the ladies in my office celebrated birthdays within a week of each other and when in Kaz, we celebrate like ain’t no tomorrow! First, was the birthday of one of the assistants to the director. She celebrated her birthday here at school. She brought in TONS of food and we ate for a long time pausing only to give toasts! This is actually SUPER good for me considering that winter is approaching much more quickly than I want it to. I already got the windows...
