Living on a Jet Plane: Ed
http://livingonajet.blogspot.com/2011/04/ed.html
Living on a Jet Plane. Sunday, 10 April 2011. When I wrote my last post I felt this blog needed an indefinitely long break. I had a mind to suspend it permanently (or until I turn 25, whichever comes first). But I had an experience this morning which I feel compelled to share. The job opened up because his predecessor died of cirrhosis. Ed shook his head sadly as he told me what happened. "He was 62. Too much alcohol, that stuff will kill you." I nodded a little self-consciously as he wen...It was half p...

Thought, feeling, word and expression collide. Watch Out! We are growing up now. The blog has embarked on its 8th year. No profound words of wisdom here, just a little wish and hope that I continue to find the necessary impetus to write. And that readers continue to visit. And that they bring other visitors with them. And I might as well throw in a wish for world peace. Some of the above things may actually be possible, you know.😉. September 25, 2013. 2 responses to “7s and 8s”. Enter your comment here.

Thought, feeling, word and expression collide. Watch Out! Someone might write, or may have already written, why this is THE must watch movie for this year, so what the heck, here’s my own compilation of ten unbeatable reasons you should watch Gravity and be awed by it. You don’t find me glorifying a movie, any movie, too often so when I do, you better sit up and take notice. 1) The 3D visuals. There’s a reason they are top of the list. 5) Sandra Bullock. And her awesomely fit body. The guys can g...7) Ho...

Thought, feeling, word and expression collide. Watch Out! 8230; is a good place to keep potted plants. It is also a better place in which to sit and read books. On my blog, this ledge is that corner where I shall sit and read books, and having done that, will review them. No fair and high-and-mighty book critiques will be found here, just my biased opinions. Read on. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. One flew over the cuckoo’s nest. With Open, I declare this section open. Ha. Enter your comment here.

Thought, feeling, word and expression collide. Watch Out! Love in the Time of Cholera. This is a book I had wanted to read for a long time, without knowing anything about it. I just knew it was one of the classics and that was reason enough for me to want to read it. I am glad I didn’t borrow this book from someone, it’s most certainly a keeper. Having read and fallen in love with its English translation, I am sure the original Spanish version will be much more rich, much more exquisite t...Hey Pranav, i...

Living on a Jet Plane: November 2010
http://livingonajet.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Living on a Jet Plane. Wednesday, 24 November 2010. The English that is spoken in India is no longer the language that the British empire left behind. In fact it's not even one language anymore. There is a straightforward (if slightly odd) version of Indian English that gets everyday tasks done. This is the English where you reschedule an event to an earlier time by 'pre-poning' it instead of by advancing it, or where you politely request someone to introduce themselves by asking for their 'good name'.

Living on a Jet Plane: Phlegethon
http://livingonajet.blogspot.com/2011/01/phlegethon.html
Living on a Jet Plane. Saturday, 29 January 2011. Let's call him Prometheus. It's not his name, but what do names matter? Prometheus' face is smooth. His eyes are calm. His lips are relaxed and show no sign of expressing any emotion. He holds his chin in his hands and looks thoughtful. Noone would guess that he is raging inside. What brought this all on? It was a cup of coffee on a late summer night last year. Prometheus watches the couple and tries to hear their conversation. They are having an argu...
