Postcards From The Ridge: January 2013
http://postcardsfromtheridge.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, January 31, 2013. It was COLD last night! Ice in the desert really put Kaleb’s nose out of joint. For some reason he believes that good weather must follow us all the days of our lives and after the wet summer we had last year he was expecting nothing but sunshine and warm tropical breezes. Our pipes were even protesting as they nearly froze solid. Kaleb took a few hours this morning to decide if he was sick or not. But after lunch his energy level plummeted. I laid in the sun for a while, brea...

Postcards From The Ridge: I'm Back in the Saddle!
http://postcardsfromtheridge.blogspot.com/2013/10/im-back-in-saddle.html
Tuesday, October 22, 2013. I'm Back in the Saddle! I got a call several weeks ago from our friend in the Bahamas. She was shocked when I answered the phone. She said, “Well Mickey, I thought you’d done died and gone to heaven. There hasn’t been anything new on your blog for so long I was sure you were dead so I was calling up to give my condolences to Kory and to tell him I got a whole line up of women down here ready to take him on.”. I couldn’t have laughed harder. That woman is a total crack up. Since...

Postcards From The Ridge: April 2012
http://postcardsfromtheridge.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 24, 2012. Crazy busy. That’s what our life has been like for far too long and why I haven’t been too faithful with the blog. I’m so looking forward to the school year being over. Besides our insane weekly commitments, there’s been a few new things added into my schedule and life is passing me by at break-neck speed. A month ago we finally bought an RV. I’d been staying up late at night surfing the web for Class C motorhomes for months on end. It looked clean and had low miles. We took it i...

Postcards From The Ridge: Busy Busy Busy

Friday, August 2, 2013. My missionary friend, “Louise,” who lives in the Bahamas, called me up the other day. When I answered the phone, this is how it went:. 8220;Well Mickey, I thought you’d died and gone to heaven! You haven’t posted anything on your blog for so long, I was sure you were dead. I was calling up to give my condolences to Kory and to tell him I have a long line up of friends down here that would be happy to take him on.”. The housecleaning alone was enough to do me in. Since we havenR...

Postcards From The Ridge: December 2012
http://postcardsfromtheridge.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 31, 2012. Wrapping Up the Year. These past several weeks have been so full of celebrations, traditions, friends and good times that there’s been no time to sit and even reflect on all our blessings. Kory turned 69 before Thanksgiving, which means I now have less than a year to plan an appropriate 70. Birthday party for him. Thank God for that. (Photo below is of Kaleb teaching Kory about Facebook and email - which is all he wanted for his birthday.). That got him going. He’s been d...

Postcards From The Ridge: December 2011
http://postcardsfromtheridge.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 9, 2011. A Teenager is in the House! The boxes are still scattered around upstairs and I still haven’t found the nativity set. Of course, I haven’t had that much time to look for it but we’re half way to Christmas and I’m still running behind. My goal is to not be stressed out about that. The cards and newsletters are printed, but not in envelopes. I wish they could mail themselves. We want to focus more on the meaning, so we’ll see how that desire plays out this year. We bought Kaleb a ...

Postcards From The Ridge: October 2011
http://postcardsfromtheridge.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Saturday, October 29, 2011. I’ve been plagued lately by Northwest Guilt. It’s the feeling a person has that was raised in the Northwest, that says, on a sunny day, that person really needs to be outside enjoying the sunshine. Since sunny days don’t come so often to us here in the Northwest, there’s a good reason for that feeling, but sometimes, circumstances prevent me from going outdoors on a sunny day - and the guilt takes over. At least in the fall we’ll get a few hours in the morning. And they say Ca...

Postcards From The Ridge: Mexico Missions Trip
http://postcardsfromtheridge.blogspot.com/2013/08/mexico-missions-trip.html
Friday, August 30, 2013. Well, God surely showed up in many ways on our recent trip to Mexico. Being the leader of a group of 19 from two different churches was much easier the second time around. I had a huge learning curve in April, the last time we went, but all I learned, I put to good use this time and everyone was well prepared for the journey. We had four different family groups and four individual women on this trip. The first God Thing was that everyone made it to San Diego without a hitch.
