人文館北側接鄰農業陳列館，在 9.5 公尺的棟距之外，並採取底部挑空 4 層樓的大跨距空間設計，利用通透的視野連繫今昔兩棟建築。

文學院擁有 8 系 12 所、3,000 餘名師生。 自 1970 年代以來，文學院 30 多年沒有新的建築，臺灣大學師生數比起當時增加了 2.5 倍，換算下來目前自有空間僅僅達到法定的 55%。 校園空間規劃小組也在 1995 年校園規劃報告書中提出洞洞館區 原農業陳列館、人類學系館、哲學系館 作為文學院未來興建館舍的預定地之一。 人文館的基地原貌，左側為人類學系館，右側為哲學系館 兩座建築均於 2010 年拆除。 人文館繼承原有哲學、人類學兩系的洞洞館基地，作為校園的入口意象，除了可以和周圍的 校史館、文學院、人類學博物館 之博物館帶，透過師生生活有機的互動，形構完整的文學院聚落，四系二所共融其中更讓人文教研不可或缺的 對話 更易實現。

人文館臨椰林大道側的高度為 14.6 公尺，還略低於對面的高 15 公尺的一號館。 並且人文館距離校門口 70 公尺以上，比起離校門 30 公尺的一號館更遠。 校園規畫報告書 中該基地的規範是限高 20 公尺。 即使可因為特定條件開放至 5 至 12 層樓，但該基地位處入口，為形塑校門重要意象之地難道不該從嚴看待嗎. 從法規面來看，人文館這些年已透過大量會議廣納校內外建議，在多方的折衝樽俎下，目前南側 椰林大道側 建築高度 14.6 公尺、東側 17.8 公尺、北側西側 21 3 公尺的第十修正案，不僅已獲校規小組和文院師生認同，更經校務會議一致決議通過。 目前為止，我們經歷了公開會議 46 次，其中有籌建會議 14 次，全校公開說明會 8 次 含環差分析公聽會 1 次 ，公共論壇與專家座談討論會 4 次，校園規劃小組委員會提案討論 11 次，校務發展規劃委員會提案討論 7 次，籌建會與校規會聯席會 2 次，這都是我們對與此案的重視，我們謙虛地廣納各種聲音將其它的意見納入設計。

The NTU Lifeguard Corps conducts twice yearly Life Saving courses for students and staff of NTU (Nanyang Technological University). Cardiovascular Pulmonary Resuscitation Certification. Life Saving 1, 2, and 3 are taken together. The courses are then examined by certified examiners from the Singapore Life Saving Society. The lifesaving course for 2010 semester 2.
