A (Not So) Brief History | jawsomejournal

https://jawsomejournal.wordpress.com/2010/08/14/a-not-so-brief history

From pre-op prep to post-op progress. A (Not So) Brief History. So, how did I get here? And why am I getting this surgery? I still ask myself this sometimes hahah. I’ve gotten a lot of the same reaction from people when they hear about my decision, like: “But you look fine! 8221; or “You’re already quite pretty! June 2007 [age 19]- my old bite). Top – daytime splint; bottom – nighttime appliance). When Dr. Lin took impressions for the appliances, he made me pull my lower jaw forward in order to creat...

From pre-op prep to post-op progress. Day 86: Gobble Gobble! My hand turkey and I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving! With all that I’ve gone through, I have more to be thankful for this year than ever before:. 1) My parents’ strength, optimism, and endless patience with me during recovery. And for the sacrifices they had to make in order for me to undergo this surgery. 2) My friends and boyfriend for showing their care and concern from hundreds (or thousands) of miles away. Discomfort/inconvenience: 5/10. Day 20 – Weight: 103 lbs. Discomfort/inconvenience: 5/10. Day 18 Day 19 Day 20. Talk about a series of uninspired mugshots! My discomfort/inconvenience score went up as a result of a heated argument I had with a parental unit. The topic? TBD, by the p-unit (of course). Cool factoid (that is actually ...

From pre-op prep to post-op progress. Archive September, 2011. Day 365: Happy One Year Anniversary, Me! April 2010 – September 2010 – August 26, 2011). I feel a strong obligation to write a post today. Just for posterity. Because today is the one-year anniversary of my jaw surgery! Of the kiss. Sad times, for sure. Yes, even feel like my head’s going to explode from the swelling. Even ingest everything through a syringe for a month. Even faint in the middle of the bathroom from malnutrition. I just sip t...

Days 28-34: Like A Human, Ate for the Very First Time | jawsomejournal

From pre-op prep to post-op progress. Days 28-34: Like A Human, Ate for the Very First Time. Average weight: 102 lbs. Discomfort/inconvenience: 2/10. L- R, Up- Down) I’m looking especially good on Day 34, amiright? My blog entry title = the original lyrics that didn’t make the cut. They changed it to “Like a Virgin”… I can’t imagine why…. Also, I made dinner for myself (an uber-easy baked fish recipe, but still, baby steps! Today, I went back to my orthodontist because my upper wire shifted and the end w...

This Is Not A Medical Vacation: Day 35

http://aliciajawop.blogspot.com/2010/09/day-35.html

This Is Not A Medical Vacation. Tuesday, September 14, 2010. Today is the 5 week mark! 10 more days until my splint is no more, and only 3 more weeks until my 2 month anniversary. My life is all about numbers these days. September 14, 2010 at 4:31 PM. Isnt it the strangest thing that we forget how to do the SIMPLEST tasks? I tried using a straw yesterday because I was so fed up with malfunctioning syringes, but I completely forgot how to maneuver it! Happy 5 weeks to you! Seoul, South Korea.

This Is Not A Medical Vacation: Day 45

http://aliciajawop.blogspot.com/2010/09/day-45.html

This Is Not A Medical Vacation. Friday, September 24, 2010. I had a pleasant surprise yesterday. Turns out that I had my splint removal date wrong. It was TODAY, not Saturday like I originally anticipated. Now that I’m feeling really post-op, I suppose there’s not much to do except continue to attempt to chomp through foods I used to love and worry about whether or not my new bite will shift (resulting in even more dental work, heaven forbid, I would just dieeeee). This Is Not A Medical Vacation: 2.5 Months

http://aliciajawop.blogspot.com/2010/10/25-months.html

This Is Not A Medical Vacation. Monday, October 25, 2010. I'm getting really close to celebrating my 3 month anniversary! A lot has changed for me in the past month. My new bite is coming along swimmingly. I've been wearing my bands for around 15-18 hours per day, sometimes even more. I was prescribed four the first orthodontic appointment, but I went back last week and was reduced to two. My orthodontist says that I can be out of braces by February/March, so I'm really excited. And chewing on my bottom ...

This Is Not A Medical Vacation: July 2010

http://aliciajawop.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

This Is Not A Medical Vacation. Saturday, July 31, 2010. My story began sometime in 5th grade, I think. Or maybe it was 6th grade. I honestly can't remember as it seems like I've had an underbite for my entire life. The only reason why I know this isn't true is because my kindergarten school photo shows me having a perfect bite (and really cute little teeth). And that ended the talk of surgery. I'm going to stop here, because the next part is unbelievably long and requires a post of its own.

From the Pen of Lady G: July 2012

http://lady-g-blog.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Sunday, 29 July 2012. Bintulu Korean Restaurant at Lintas. This is my favorite place to have Korean food and it's also the one of the first place I wanted to blog about. But it's getting exceedingly difficult to get seats there since they are always full on weekends. Both local as well as Koreans like to dine there. This best dish is the Beef Bulgogi. Most Korean Restaurant's bulgogi come ready made in a stone pot. Their beef bulgogi is cooked on the spot:. Popiah filled with meat inside. The yellow egg ...

This Is Not A Medical Vacation: Day 56

http://aliciajawop.blogspot.com/2010/10/day-56.html

This Is Not A Medical Vacation. Friday, October 1, 2010. The official dates are a bit sketchy. Technically, I'm 3 days after my 7-week mark. But I'm also hitting my 2 month mark next Tuesday. I don't know how the numbers can be so off. It's past my bedtime, and I can't be bothered to perform math - however simple - after 3pm. My brain is on logical shut down. I think he goes to NYU because his major sounds like something that came out of Gallatin. Who else is not going to watch this film?

http://aliciajawop.blogspot.com/2010/09/day-36.html

This Is Not A Medical Vacation. Wednesday, September 15, 2010. Before Kayne West became known for the joker that he's become, he was actually doing things that were meaningful. The first single he ever released as a rapper was "Through the Wire." I was a freshman in college at that time, completely unaware of how much meaning this song would have for me in the future. I drink a boost for breakfast, and ensure for dizzert. Somebody ordered pancakes I just sip the sizzurp. September 16, 2010 at 9:24 AM.

http://aliciajawop.blogspot.com/2010/09/day-33.html

This Is Not A Medical Vacation. Sunday, September 12, 2010. I’m now in the clear for the acne that appeared post-op. They disappeared like they came – without notice and suddenly. I can now count on one hand the pimples I have left. Four. Well, three and a half. One is about to leave. Now I’m counting the days until the splint is gone – 12 more awful days with this mess and then it’s ta-ta! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Seoul, South Korea. View my complete profile. The Good, The Bad, and The Schlock.

The Good, The Bad, and The Schlock. Monday, 13 July 2015. Why do people accept mediocrity as greatness? Video Nasties: A Misinformed Society. Banning films seems like a normal thing now doesn’t it? Making cuts to certain scenes so the film is more socially accepted is an important part of distributing films to the big screen and to the DVD. But back in the 1980’s when VHS and the very short-lived Betamax was king, banning and making cuts to films were causing havoc in Britain. It’s obvious that kid...
