Food For Thought

Sunday, March 27, 2011. First delivery was a success! It has been less than a week and we have eaten most of the fruit and veggies. The highlight by far was the Red Chard. I never would have tried this on my own and was even dreading it a little, but we will definitely make it again! I made a variation of the recipe below. Mostly I just skipped the pinto beans and lime juice (didn’t have any) and salt since the red chard tasted almost salty on its own. Saturday, March 19, 2011. Posted by Kelly Stafford.

Food For Thought: Quinoa Broccoli Frittata

http://foodtorthoughtohio.blogspot.com/2011/02/quinoa-broccoli-frittata.html

Sunday, February 13, 2011. Another great recipe thanks to Melissa (and Oxygen Magazine)! I can’t wait to have this for lunch the next two days! I really liked it but it was a little bland so we added pepper and a little more cheese on top. 1 whole egg and 2 egg whites (I used 3 whole eggs.and then threw in a 4. When I thought the egg to quinoa/broccoli ratio looked too low. This is my first Frittata, but somehow I thought I still new better than the recipe. 189; cup nonfat milk. 1 cup quinoa, cooked.

Food For Thought: September 2010

http://foodtorthoughtohio.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

Thursday, September 23, 2010. In Defense of Food. I just finished the book, "In Defense of Food" by Michael Pollan. I really enjoyed it. He talks about how food used to be and how it is now. He discusses nutritional research on food and on different culture's diets over the years. His theme which is on the front of the book is simply, “Eat food, not too much, most plants.”. He adds other suggestions later in the booked, for example, “Don’t eat anything incapable of rotting.”. Note: the serving size is le...

Wednesday, October 27, 2010. OK Kelly that is to great! I give you props for trying it. I'm not going to lie looking at it made me feel a little sick. By the way Andy's brother regularly eats sardines out of the can and right in front of us sometimes.it is NOT appealing at all. I tried Kelly's Italian beef recipe, it was very good and it had a little kick so I liked it. Very simple recipe which I loved! Friday, October 22, 2010. Secrets inside Salmon In a Can- Revealed. Saturday, March 19, 2011. Thought of you guys when I came across this link for cooking for the freezer. I just checked out some of the freezer recipes and I didn't really see anything that I'd want to cook, but thought maybe you guys might find something or benefit from the planning tips (I don't plan). Frothy byproduct of passionate food consumption. My People Don’t Eat That! C Loco’s 15 Bean Burrito. Posted by Chris Love. Michael has never been a huge tofu fan, so when he told me he wanted to lay off the soy for a little while, I wasn’t surprised. Soy certainly isn’t my main source of protein because I still eat chicken and seafood. However, it’s a little different for Michael with his vegan tendencies and all. … Continue reading →. Food to Run For

Wednesday, January 15, 2014. Yet again, I'm late to the party. Thanksgiving, Hanukkah and Christmas flew by this year and I'm finally getting this post up! My brothers family came up from Maryland and the boys had the best time. Dylan loves being around his cousins- they are 5 months apart! Dylan also LOVED helping us and watching us cook. We constantly turned on the oven light so he could see what was going on! Our first course was Leek and Butternut Squash Soup. It was so tasty! Hanukkah was fun for al...

food to savor

Monday, October 6, 2008. No, i am not a foodie; yes, i like food. If you've read at least a few other entries on this blog, you probably have accepted by now that for me, a good meal need not be presented in the form of Revolution on a Plate. I appreciate the subversive in visual art. And sometimes, in fashion. But when it comes to matters of consumption, I prefer straightforward. I avoid. So yeah, yeah, yeah, you get it: I'm not a risk-taker or -appreciator, even. Instead, my food-related choices ar...
