Hugs from Home: Recipes and Stories. Pass a good time…. Cajun Corn Salad – Court of Two Sisters – New Orleans →. August 9, 2015 · 1:47 am. I’ve had several people ask me for this recipe lately. It’s simple to make and keeps very well. Serve over cream cheese (with Ritz crackers) as an appetizer or as a sauce for pork or lamb. I like to eat it on ham sandwiches in lieu of mustard or mayo. 1 (12 ounce) can dry mustard. 1 (4 ounce) jar prepared horseradish. 1 (16 ounce) jar pineapple preserves. Cajun Corn S...

Benito's Wine Reviews: Flags of Wine Countries
http://wine-by-benito.blogspot.com/p/flags-of-wine-countries.html
Flags of Wine Countries. Maybe it's just the geography fanatic in me, but I'm starting to add little flags to my posts to indicate the country or state of origin. I want to make some more custom maps as well, but that's a much more ambitious project. I've taken public domain images from Wikipedia and done three things:. 1) Resized them to 500 pixels wide. 2) Added a 2 pixel black border (important for helping the flag stand out against a white background). Benito's Wine Reviews: July 2015
http://wine-by-benito.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Dinner at Goldsmith's in Memphis, July 1, 1914. While nosing around on some sites about Memphis history, I found a particular curiosity well-suited to this here blog. Historic-memphis.com had a series of photos of the old Goldsmith's department stores, and buried within that set was a menu from exactly 100 years ago. Of course, not everyone from that era was having the epic 1912 last dinner for first class passengers on the Titanic. The more I look at the menu, the more it reminds me of fine dining and w...

Benito's Wine Reviews: Repost: The Mint Julep
http://wine-by-benito.blogspot.com/2015/05/repost-mint-julep.html
Repost: The Mint Julep. A timely repost for Derby Day tomorrow. On Cinco de Mayo this year, I went out and had margaritas and Mexican food with Julia and some friends, but that afternoon I had to make a certain cocktail. The event was the Kentucky Derby, and the cocktail was the classic Mint Julep. I achieved a perfect Mint Julep thanks to one special ingredient: a cup of ice from a nearby Sonic Drive-In. 1 oz Sweet Red Vermouth. Fee Bros. Whiskey Barrel Aged Old Fashioned Bitters.
