Everything is eatable: July 2008
http://bostonfoodmonster.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Eating, drinking, and cooking in and around Boston. Monday, July 28, 2008. You can't read the news these days without hearing about local food, carbon footprint, and all that shit. While I'm happy to support local businesses and farms, I'm not convinced that eating "local" is necessarily the best way to live. For example, if you live in New England, does that mean you never eat citrus? What about olive oil, or wine? Also, will a local tomato ever beat a canned san marzano tomato at its peak ripeness?
Everything is eatable: October 2008

Eating, drinking, and cooking in and around Boston. Sunday, October 26, 2008. Went to check out L'Espalier's new space in the Mandarin Oriental last night. It's a very nice, modern-looking set of rooms, but doesn't quite have the charm of the old townhouse. We opted for the chef's tasting journey (at a whopping $185 per person, and an additional $110pp for wine pairings). Hors d'oeuvres were mini smoked salmon napoleons with creme fraiche. Yummy, but not particularly exciting. Herbed gnocchi with mushroo...

Eating, drinking, and cooking in and around Boston. Tuesday, July 14, 2009. Since the last post, the arugula and spinach bolted (we managed to make a tub of arugula pesto and some really good spinach dishes). Lettuce is almost gone, and we got a ton of peas. Fennel is somewhat unsuccessful, as it's growing upwards, instead of making nice fat bulbs. Scallions are also going nuts, and starting to look like onions. The tomatoes are growing like crazy- it looks like a jungle! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
Everything is eatable: Weekend breakfasts
http://bostonfoodmonster.blogspot.com/2008/09/weekend-breakfasts.html
Eating, drinking, and cooking in and around Boston. Saturday, September 6, 2008. Growing up, I ate cereal for breakfast pretty much every day, even on the weekends. No omelettes, pancakes, or anything that required cooking. Maybe occasionally I'd make french toast, but that was rare. Now, I love making a leisurely breakfast on the weekend. Last weekend, we had scrambled eggs with local shitake mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, and scallion, topped with scamorza cheese. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Gastronomic Success - A Boston Food Journal. Chronicling a food-lover's adventures in eating in and around Boston. Sunday, February 21, 2010. One thing I LOVE about weekends is the opportunity for going out to breakfast. Today we tried a "new" place, which is the second establishment of a New Hampshire hot spot. Right in the heart of Kendall Square- The Friendly Toast. The decor is on the ridiculously kitchy. Raisin bread, and an omelet. Of our own creation (artichoke hearts, fresh basil, sun dried.

Gastronomic Success - A Boston Food Journal. Chronicling a food-lover's adventures in eating in and around Boston. Saturday, March 27, 2010. Most Bostonians can easily answer the question, " Boca. Without pondering for even a second. I used to say, Anna's, hands down! But, after a recent last minute decision to actually perform a true comparison, I am now confident that the better Burrito is at Boca. Shocking, I know. Burrito, on the other hand, was notably more interesting in the ole boca. Rumor has it ...

Gastronomic Success - A Boston Food Journal. Chronicling a food-lover's adventures in eating in and around Boston. Sunday, August 30, 2009. Another week, another fancy Friday. Fancy that! We went to Craigie On Main. In Cambridge, a place we've been meaning to try out for a long while. The first thing that struck M, was the fact that they told him the dress code was "jacket preferred" when he made the reservation, yet, we dined alongside a girl in jeans and a tye-dyed t-shirt. Humph! The fish was cooked t...
