From an English Pulpit: March 2015
http://englishpulpit.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
From an English Pulpit. A Pastor from London thinking aloud. The Bible Blog by Blog. Tuesday, 31 March 2015. We began our Church's week of prayer last evening. We're using the chapters of John's gospel set in the Upper Room and this brought us to the very familiar words of John 14. Or so we thought. It is about Him. It is about trusting Him. It is as available on the deathbed as the Sunday school, in the workplace or the clinic on the aircraft in the pulpit. Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Links to this post.

From an English Pulpit. A Pastor from London thinking aloud. The Bible Blog by Blog. Saturday, 28 February 2015. There is on ancient Celtic poem which reads;. He drew a ring which shut me out. Heretic, rebel, things to flout. But Love and I had wit to win. We drew a circle that took him in. Yet what is more amazing is the way that God. Draws circles. Without any touch of irony or hypocrisy God could comfortably and justifiably draw a circle of holiness that leaves not just Mr Savile and JJ outside bu...

From an English Pulpit. A Pastor from London thinking aloud. The Bible Blog by Blog. Tuesday, 27 January 2015. I was struck by the crafted words of a journalist reporting on today's commemoration of the liberation of Auschwitz:. Those who survived Auschwitz lived through one of the 20th Century's worst acts of hatred and inhumanity. In a world where hype so often hides the truth here is the truth:. One of one century's worst. Protection for Frankfurt's Synagogue - today. Tuesday, January 27, 2015. All th...

http://englishpulpit.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
From an English Pulpit. A Pastor from London thinking aloud. The Bible Blog by Blog. Friday, 31 July 2015. The story is told of a man on his hands and knees under a street light looking for something. Along came an Officer of the Law who was concerned with the man's behaviour so late at night. Have you lost something, sir? My wallet, officer", drawled the man who was evidently somewhat the worse for drink. Do you remember when you last had it? Friday, July 31, 2015. Links to this post. http://englishpulpit.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
From an English Pulpit. A Pastor from London thinking aloud. The Bible Blog by Blog. Sunday, 30 November 2014. Advent is about reflective waiting. Is it not a haven from the madding crowds of Black Friday, every subsequent Saturday, Sunday and Thursday late and through to Christmas eve? There is something appealing about retreating into a Carmelite Christmas. (It will be less expensive for a start . . .). William Booth was an activist. You don't start an expression of church that becomes called. Well in ...
From an English Pulpit: Magna Carta
http://englishpulpit.blogspot.com/2015/07/freedom-is-strangely-elusive-idea.html
From an English Pulpit. A Pastor from London thinking aloud. The Bible Blog by Blog. Tuesday, 7 July 2015. Freedom is a strangely elusive idea. Instinctively we want it, value it, demand it, yet it is much less clear what it really is. Take the striking opening of the Magna Carta. And one of the only four of its clauses that remain in contemporary English Law:. Then there have been the times when, whatever freedoms the Church did enjoy it used against other expressions of church and religion. You wou...

From an English Pulpit. A Pastor from London thinking aloud. The Bible Blog by Blog. Monday, 30 June 2014. One Month back in London. Celebrating this Anniversary today it strikes me that there are a bunch of London things that I am reliving after years of being away. 1 My driving has diminished. On ringing the Car Insurer to discuss my new (higher of course) premium the receptionist suggested I might do only half or less of my previous mileage. She was right. 7 I assume everyone in London has a baby - it...

From an English Pulpit. A Pastor from London thinking aloud. The Bible Blog by Blog. Sunday, 31 August 2014. As August comes to its end its most pleasantly memorable day for us was certainly the one spent at Trebah Gardens. It was one of those perfect days at a perfect place that it is quite possible to get through years - or the whole - of life and never have (especially taking holidays in England! If only we could hold these moments as our constant way of life. Sunday, August 31, 2014. At the end - it'...
From an English Pulpit: May 2015
http://englishpulpit.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
From an English Pulpit. A Pastor from London thinking aloud. The Bible Blog by Blog. Saturday, 30 May 2015. London a year on. GROWTH: Those years ago London seemed like a great but tired old city. Not any more. It is no exaggeration to say that cities are being built as part of the city. It feels like a 21st century place. HOUSE PRICES: London was never cheap but now it is simply insane, fueled by an international buying spree that simply offers silly money for almost any London freehold. This makes ...
From an English Pulpit: Hearing
http://englishpulpit.blogspot.com/2015/07/hearing.html
From an English Pulpit. A Pastor from London thinking aloud. The Bible Blog by Blog. Monday, 20 July 2015. Not too much attention is given by Christians to the meaning of hearing. The hearing I refer to is that with which the Lord Jesus ends many parables - he that hath ears to hear let him hear. Lest we take that turn of phrase to mean that everyone will hear Jesus also indicates rather the opposite, quoting the old prophet - ears have they but they hear not. But there is also hearing. The picture above...

Saturday, May 7, 2011. Many of us grew up with the impossible feeling that we had to be perfect. Part of this drive comes from a mistaken translation of Matthew 5:48, "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.". The Greek word "teleios" translated as "perfect" is more accurately translated as "complete" or "mature.". To grow up into our Christ nature is to mature, to be complete. What does is take to be complete? Joyous in the Spirit,. Tuesday, January 18, 2011. Dear God...

Blogging the Bible
Saturday, January 4, 2014. Welcome to this One Year Bible blog! Greetings, and welcome to this (almost) forgotten corner of cyberspace! If you have stumbled upon this blog, I am guessing that you are trying to read your Bible through in a year. If you are, congratulations! That's a worthy goal, to be sure. In fact, that is the goal that I set for myself in 2010: to read the Bible in a year, and to blog about my reading each day. This blog is the result of that goal. The Bible I used was the One Year Bible.
The Bible Blog by Blog
The Bible Blog by Blog. A thought on every Bible Chapter from a year's Bible reading. In 2011 the church where I am Pastor took up the challenge to read through the whole Bible in a year. However this has produced an entirely original personal narrative of a year's Bible reading and you may find it at times interesting, occasionally enlightening and for certain you won't find it anywhere else! Thanks for dropping by. You may also find my main blog. Posted by John Roberts. Links to this post. There is mat...

The Bible Blogger | Biblical Scholasticism from a Biblical Perspective
Biblical Scholasticism from a Biblical Perspective. The Mark of the Beast and Salvation. Tonight, while prepping for another class, I ran across a radio interview of Jimmy DeYoung, where he and John MacArthur both claim that anyone who takes the Mark of the Beast during the Great Tribulation could still possibly be saved afterwards. Though I personally would like to agree with them, as a student of Scripture, it is absolutely critical that I side on the side of God’s Word. I WHAT IS THE MARK OF THE BEAST.
