Blogging the Bible

Saturday, January 4, 2014. Welcome to this One Year Bible blog! Greetings, and welcome to this (almost) forgotten corner of cyberspace! If you have stumbled upon this blog, I am guessing that you are trying to read your Bible through in a year. If you are, congratulations! That's a worthy goal, to be sure. In fact, that is the goal that I set for myself in 2010: to read the Bible in a year, and to blog about my reading each day. This blog is the result of that goal. The Bible I used was the One Year Bible.

Blogging the Bible: February 2010

http://www.bibleblog365.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Sunday, February 28, 2010. OT: Lev. 22:17-23:44. It is "cute" to me b/c the Israelites there seem just about as in the dark as I am about the significance of everything; they are just trying to "follow the Law." It's a nice deviation from their typical history. I'm not picking on the disciples, I promise! I am just very interested in communication. Literal versus figurative language continues to be a big obstacle for them (and to their defense, Jesus is. Nothing and can do. Saturday, February 27, 2010.

Blogging the Bible: July 2010

http://www.bibleblog365.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Friday, July 30, 2010. OT: 2 Chron. 29:1-36. Today's was another cheery reading. The kings of Judah are really on as much of a roll as I've seen them. In today's passage, Hezekiah, the priests, and the Levites get the country back on track by cleansing, repairing, and rededicating the temple. I liked reading about their dedication to the task and how "they were careful to follow all the Lord's instructions in their work (15). Oh, okay. It's really b/c I'm lazy. NT: Romans 14: 1-23. That it is wrong, then...

Blogging the Bible: December 31

http://www.bibleblog365.blogspot.com/2010/12/december-31.html

Friday, December 31, 2010. In today's reading was the only verse I had previously known from Malachi:. Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,' says the Lord Almighty, 'and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it" (3:10). The book concludes with a wish for Jesus to come soon, and with a blessing on the readers. But there is too much to do for that! Congrats and than...

Blogging the Bible: August 2010

http://www.bibleblog365.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

Tuesday, August 31, 2010. Elihu goes on and on and on, and finally, God interrupts him. God then unleashes a torrent of words at Job, a series of questions designed to show Job what the difference is between him and God. God asks, "Did you do this," "Do you know this," "Were you there when," and the answer is always no. My favorite question is in verse 38:36:. Who endowed the heart with wisdom. Or gave understanding to the mind? NT: 2 Cor. 4:13-5:10. I love verses 16-18:. LOVE it. It is always a good...

There’s no question about it: 2013 was a great year for us. How great was it? I chose a Christmas card that prominently featured the phrase, “Joyful and Triumphant” because that was how we felt as the year wound down. At the end of 2012, when I wrote about my hopes for 2013. Figuring out how to be a good citizen in the Kingdom of God. The Evolution of a T-Shirt Quilt. Posted by kingdomcivics in My Life in the Kingdom. When I was in college, t-shirt bedding was popular. There were t-shirt sheets and t-shirt pillowcases. And one day, I saw that someone had a t-shirt. In my life. I had way too many of them to wear, but I just couldn’t throw them away because of their emotional value. I needed one of those t-shirt quilts. Bible Blog

Saturday, May 7, 2011. Many of us grew up with the impossible feeling that we had to be perfect. Part of this drive comes from a mistaken translation of Matthew 5:48, "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.". The Greek word "teleios" translated as "perfect" is more accurately translated as "complete" or "mature.". To grow up into our Christ nature is to mature, to be complete. What does is take to be complete? Joyous in the Spirit,. Tuesday, January 18, 2011. Dear God...

Biblical Scholasticism from a Biblical Perspective. The Mark of the Beast and Salvation. Tonight, while prepping for another class, I ran across a radio interview of Jimmy DeYoung, where he and John MacArthur both claim that anyone who takes the Mark of the Beast during the Great Tribulation could still possibly be saved afterwards. Though I personally would like to agree with them, as a student of Scripture, it is absolutely critical that I side on the side of God’s Word. I WHAT IS THE MARK OF THE BEAST.
