My adventures in sweet and savoury baking. And she’s back! August 25, 2012. I decided that I just couldn’t stay away from the wonderful world of baking any longer! I hadn’t realised how much I had missed baking, until I started again. It’s so nice to escape away into the kitchen and get really stuck into a recipe or dream up a new creation. So my return to baking begins with manuka honey flavoured whoopie pies with a filling that I think is similar to a Swiss meringue buttercream. 250g Golden caster sugar.

My mom wanted a homemade(ish) caramel Cake for her birthday, I say “ish” because it’s from a box but doctored up! I made it 3 layers since family came over, it was massive haha. Heres how I made it:. Cake: Vegetable oil spray for misting the pans. Flour for dusting the pans. 1 package (18.5 ounces) Duncan Hines butter recipe golden cake mix. Cup warm water, or until smooth. 1 stick salted butter (if use unsalted add a pinch of salt). Cup dark brown sugar. Cup light brown sugar. 2 cups confectioners sugar.
