I'd love to say that Peanut and I have been spending our last real week of summer doing awesome things, but it's been kind of dull! We've done lots of playing at home, relaxing, and movie watching! We went to the zoo Sunday morning! I got 225 books scanned and tagged! Scienc...

http://www.bakingcraftingteaching.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

Monday, February 27, 2012. I'm still here and a long vowel freebie. So I feel like I haven't posted in a really long time. I have had some personal things come up and just haven't had the time to or energy to do much. I missed so much, but feel that it was good timing! There are so many amazing Dr. Seuss activities that you all have made and I don't get to do much of that stuff so I am glad that me going MIA was during this time. I would be so sad to have to pass up so many great ideas! It is been a nice...

Monday, July 21, 2014. Monday Made it for the Home. So I am linking up with 4th Grade Frolics for a Monday Made It! I have been quite the productive mama today. Still not working on school stuff as our first curriculum meeting isn't until tomorrow. Being at a new school and in a co-teaching experience is making me a bit tense these days trying to figure out what I will be doing and what I need to prepare but hopefully after our meeting tomorrow I will have a better idea! Well that is changing! It has a f...

http://5thgradechalktalk.blogspot.com/2012/06/more-about-qr-codes.html

Monday, June 25, 2012. More About QR Codes. A few months ago I blogged about using QR codes and posted the following circles activity:. Parts of a Circle. Over the past few months I have seen activities developed by more and more teachers using these great little squares :) I recently presented on this topic (Presentation PowerPoint Link). In addition to the activities, the Power Point also gives information on how to create your own codes and activities. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Tuesday, January 29, 2013. I am a firm believer that dating, even within marriage should be fun and adventurous! It can melt a gals heart when a guy takes the time to plan a well thought out date. I know that i would not mind any date, any time of the year planned out for me! Don't worry hubs is great at doing these here and there! Yes, this would be an active thing to do with your significant other, but it sure is a bonding activity! Remember nothing too heavy, cause you will be HIKING! It might make yo...

Friday, March 8, 2013. Using Context Clues Lesson Plan. Hi again, I'm back and feeling so behind. ;) Here is a mini-lesson plan that I composed that I thought some of you might find useful. It is designed for a reading workshop setting. That method is becoming more popular recently, and I'm glad it is. Context Clues Lesson Plan. Students will use context clues to determine the meaning of unfamiliar words in a workshop context. CCSSELA-Literacy.RF.1.4a. Read grade-level text with purpose and understanding.

Sunday, June 22, 2014. So Where have I been? In the past year, I've been involved in a variety of education-related activities including tutoring and teaching adults, and blogging has unfortunately taken a back seat. However, I have been asked on rather short notice to do something that I've always dreamed of doing. teaching music to children again! I have used a few activities from Mrs. Miracle's Fast and Slow kit, and plan to use the others in the coming weeks. Sing Hello and warm up our voices. Have s...

Monday, September 24, 2012. Cyber Mondays: Puzzle Maker. So, now on to what's really important. I wanted to begin this series with something I used last year with my students. It's an interactive web tool. Any time they can cut and paste and put something together, I'd like to think the learning will stick more firmly. Enjoy! Friday, September 21, 2012. My First Post. YAY! The Learning Metamorphosis: Prime and Composite lesson plan

http://learningmetamorphosis.blogspot.com/2013/02/prime-and-composite-lesson-plan.html

Tuesday, February 12, 2013. Prime and Composite lesson plan. Today, I'm sharing another lesson plan that I've written for my first "core curricular" class in Grad school. I have adapted a typical math lesson on prime and composite numbers to include multiple modalities to suit varied learning styles. Instead of creating a Google doc, I decided to just paste it into my blog post this time for easier access. My independent practice sheet was a freebie from Ms. Ashley's Resource Room. 3 – 4. http://learningmetamorphosis.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Saturday, January 26, 2013. This week, my fourth-grader and I have been exploring a few books by Particia Polacco, especially. Both of these books demonstrate a theme of acceptance and looking beyond prejudice. Both have characters whose attitudes change over the course of the story. That's why I created this Dynamic Characters Chart. Sorry it's rather plain, not all full of cute-ness ;( Oh well, one day I'll have the cute-ness factor figured out. Sunday, March 10, 2013. Teaching Factoring With Flash Cards. Factoring is one of those abstract concepts that I often find it difficult to teach, and difficult to connect to students' lives. I have a student now who is preparing for the FCAT, which is Florida's standardized test that is being fazed out with the implementation of the Common Core. Factoring is one of the concepts he needs work on, and I believe I've discovered a more interactive way to teach it. Take care, and happy teaching. ;). The teach...

Saturday, March 2, 2013. Hi everybody, I can't believe it's March already! In addition to my work with students, and Grad school, I'm now teaching a new music class for toddlers. So, I'm staying very busy. I haven't posted as much as I'd like to this month, but that will change, I promise. ;) I so love what I do, and I look forward to coming up with more interesting ways to share it with you. What to do with All That Basil. July 21, 2008. It’s been a while since we posted. For anyone who grows fresh basil, you know that it sprouts like a WEED! My very first foray into savory tart making, I found this to be much easier than I thought! 1 1/2 pounds medium yellow tomatoes, cut into 1/4-inch-thick slices. 1 1/2 pounds medium red tomatoes, cut into 1/4-inch-thick slices. 1 1/2 teaspoons salt, divided. 1 cup fresh corn kernels (about 2 ears). 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice. 1/4 cup yellow cornmeal.

My adventures in sweet and savoury baking. I have enjoyed baking since a very young age and would bake all the time if I had more people to feed my creations to (well I can’t be an obese nutritionist….can I…? I tend to bake sweet recipes weekly and try a couple of new savoury recipes a week, so this should result in a regularly updated blog 🙂.
