Saturday, May 27, 2006. Job hunting, part deux. To be fair to the company, they have offered the sale of the truck to Dan first, but if they can't find enough work to make it lucrative for them, what makes them think we would do better? So, Dan now has to look for other employment opportunities, and it gets harder because he is making such good money now. How will he be able to find a job that pays as well? Without the bladder management business. And the baton will be passed to me. My challenge will...

Monday, February 22, 2010. Waiter, there's a chicken in my yard! We've had rain here for weeks on end. And where there was a small break, it was during the week when Dan and I were at work. As a result, the grass grew. and grew. and grew. It got to be bad enough that I was reluctant to walk across the lawn for fear of what would be hiding in the grass. Snakes? Wombats are cute critters but apparently, very ornery and they like to bite.). No more hiding places for scary things! And the more we looked, the...

Sunday, June 06, 2010. After a run of nearly five years or so, I've decided to retire my blog and turn to other things. My life is about to get a little crazy, leaving not much time for blogging, lingerie modeling, or much else. I'll be leaving this up for a while, for posterity, of course. It's been fun and no doubt, somewhere down the line, I'll have a new blog. Be sure to look me up. Posted by Melanie O. at 6:01 PM. I hope whatever the new project is, that its all you want it to be! Brought to you by.

Sunday, February 14, 2010. I usually don't look forward to Valentine's Day. It's one of those contrived holidays used to sell cards, flowers and chocolates to mostly men who get guilted into feeling that they haven't shown their love for their partner enough in the past year. I like celebrating Girlfriends' Day instead. I wasn't expecting anything, except perhaps a rose cut from one of my bushes, presented this morning with a cup of tea. Now I feel ashamed that I doubted Dan. Labels: Chinese New Year.

Monday, March 29, 2010. The black hole of redecorating. To make up for it, the second best thing was to start redecorating. I've always loved Mid-Century Modern decor. Enough to be nostalgic and fun. I've done almost all of my redecorating via eBay and have been able to get teak and teak veneer furniture for a song. I've purchased vintage barkcloth curtains and funky mid-century china as well as my starburst clock. No more books stacked on my nightstand! No more DVDs on wire baker's racks! Youre so funny...

Monday, March 08, 2010. People often ask me why I'm usually in a good mood, even keeled - unflappable even. The secret? I enjoy simple pleasures and try to look for them every day. Simple pleasures make every day a good day. Sometimes, my simple pleasure is a good cup of cappuccino, seeing my roses in bloom, or receiving a compliment on my shoes. It can be a smile and hello from a complete stranger. Or finding an email from a friend or family member in my Inbox. Posted by Melanie O. at 2:25 PM. Female, A...

Thursday, June 29, 2006. My life as a married career woman has settled into a predictable routine, in which â working for the manâ has taken over, and â snogging the husbandâ plays second fiddle. My day goes something like this:. Get up at 6 am. Husband has already left for work. House is quiet. Fumble around looking for clean underwear. Hopefully, decision on â what to wearâ has been made the night before. Go to work with wrong shoes or underwear on inside out. Fall asleep briefly on the train. Stare at...

Thursday, April 27, 2006. The day has come that I've dreaded for a while. No - it's not menopause. I'm not about to become a grandmother (at least, I hope not), and I don't owe a back tax bill. No, the day I'm talking about is the day they make me a. But I get things done. Guess there will be a little bit of Mom in the management me after all. Posted by Melanie O. at 6:38 PM. Monday, April 24, 2006. Vindicated, I progressed to the bras with A cups, and they fit perfectly. I came home with two bright ...

Thursday, December 29, 2005. A discussion ensued today on a bulletin board regarding what we as travellers can do to waste time in an airport terminal while we wait for connecting flights. Sometimes, we are unfortunate enough to have to spend hours or even days in airports, for a flight that will deliver us from the Hellhole that is a crowded, unfriendly terminal. Card games (always a good one). Needlepoint/embroidery/sketchpad and pencils (or knitting for you knitting buffs). Shopping at the Duty Free.
