My Financial Journey
July | 2009 | Spending Less and Simply Living
https://youngwomanswallet.wordpress.com/2009/07
Spending Less and Simply Living. The beauty of a budget. Rent – $400/month. (This includes utilities.) I am moving to a fairly small town and sharing an apartment with a roommate. Both of these things mean that rent is pretty low. Gas – $80/month ($20/week) While it’s nice out, I can easily bike or walk to work. As the weather starts to change, this might get more difficult. But even then, it would take an extraordinary week or some sort of emergency for me to need more than $20. Also, I currently do not...

Spending Less and Simply Living. My coffee shop afternoon. Today, for the first time in about a month, I spent the afternoon in a coffee shop. I am working on my grad school applications, and so my ‘about me’ letter is a big part of those. What I have accomplished thus far is a first draft (and not very good at all) but it was a productive way to spend a gloomy and rainy day. August 30, 2009. Uncategorized. Update on my food budget. And I have not been surviving off of Ramen. I did make some mistakes...
Festively fall | Spending Less and Simply Living

Spending Less and Simply Living. I read lots of blogs, and many of them have nothing to do with frugality or personal finance. If you’re wondering why, it’s because I have other interests besides money, people! I really enjoy reading what I suppose could be grouped as ‘lifestyle’ blogs. Many of these bloggers are closer to me in age and interest than the pf bloggers that I read, so I relate to both sets equally well. September 29, 2009. Uncategorized. Be the first to comment! Spending Less and Simply Living. It is never a good sign when your dashboard shows you nothing but ‘older posts’. I sincerely apologize to any readers that I have left. Thanks for sticking with my slacker self. I hope to make it worth your effort. Really nothing much has been happening money-wise for me, which is mostly what motivates me to write. I am still working out minor kinks to my budget, so I am waiting a while before posting that. I’ve paid off one store card completely (yay! You are commenting ...

Crazy travels of an OT: November 2013
http://crazy-ot.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Crazy travels of an OT. I talk about my life as an Occupational Therapist, a wife and a friend. Tuesday, November 19, 2013. Frugal living: Planting my own veggie patch. For years I have wanted my very own veggie patch. Somewhere I can go to when life gets rough and I just want some peace and quiet. Somewhere I can go to to harvest my own food. Well, I FINALLY have started with my little, tiny veggie patch. The tomato and green pepper seedlings and parsley on the far right. Eggplant / brinjal on the far l...

Crazy travels of an OT. I talk about my life as an Occupational Therapist, a wife and a friend. Tuesday, May 12, 2015. Day 1 of the 5th Annual Flats and Handwashing Challenge - Why am I doing this? The first time I ever folded a flat was at the young age of 10 years. I had become an aunt, and a very willing one at that, who would do anything for my dearest nephew! Maybe I already realised at that tender age that folding a flat perfectly can be very therapeutic, who knows? 2 Sorting out contact dermatitis.

Crazy travels of an OT: December 2012

Crazy travels of an OT. I talk about my life as an Occupational Therapist, a wife and a friend. Wednesday, December 19, 2012. Back to work.back to a nasty reality. My cousin once said to me that she decided to become a full-time mom after she realised that she couldn't be 100% engineer and 100% mom. I now understand what she meant. It broke my heart that she and I could not lie in bed all day, with her simply feeding and sleeping the miserable feeling away. Being a stay-at-home Mom is a FULL TIME JOB!

Crazy travels of an OT. I talk about my life as an Occupational Therapist, a wife and a friend. Saturday, May 26, 2012. Why we chose cloth diapers. A few years ago I would not have thought twice about using disposable nappies. A few years ago I was rather ignorant regarding the cost of disposables. A few years ago we did not decide to have a baby AND buy a house all at the same time (my husband says we're hardcore like that! As for my husband? Here is our current stash:. Now, at first I only wanted all-i...
Crazy travels of an OT: Putting my trust in the LORD (where it SHOULD be!)

Crazy travels of an OT. I talk about my life as an Occupational Therapist, a wife and a friend. Tuesday, September 3, 2013. Putting my trust in the LORD (where it SHOULD be! I have been 'unemployed' for just over a month now, but only this month has the financial reality of it all sunk in. And then my husband said to me: "Liefie ("Dear"), did anyone die because we lost this income / you missed a termination letter / medical aid was a double premium? Him: "Then why are you so worried? Nothing can convince...

Crazy travels of an OT. I talk about my life as an Occupational Therapist, a wife and a friend. Monday, March 11, 2013. My babagirl is a full 7 months old today! Micro-manages our entire apartment's floor, as well as any other floor / surface she gets into contact with. Still enjoys books but now more for the 'chewing-benefit'. Crawls off a single step as well as the stoep. Crawls ONTO the back veranda! Moves from sitting to four-point kneeling. Is very ticklish on the left side of her neck. Subscribe to...

Crazy travels of an OT. I talk about my life as an Occupational Therapist, a wife and a friend. Thursday, October 25, 2012. Growing up too quickly. My little girl is not so little anymore :*( But I enjoy every single day with her! I only have 4 1/2 more weeks of maternity leave left and it saddens me to think that soon these carefree days will be something of the past. I think I'll be photo-blogging a lot more often now, since it's easier to bring my thoughts across. P ), and I must admit that we still u...

My heart still throbbing. September 15, 2014. At least I didn’t sleep with him. Yet, I still wake up thinking about him. You don’t have herpes if you never had an outbreak. Thank goodness I didn’t have miss of a condom. There was no need for one. Get tested for AIDS, HIV. What about the perfect. It’s not him. I miss writing to you. June 22, 2014.
