Losing the gift of shared pain | Dear Army

I want to break up with you. Here's why. December 2, 2012 / Jess. Losing the gift of shared pain. I don’t feel particularly articulate today. I think that’s from all the crying. I feel drained, and my head hurts. I hate that even something as joyous as a homecoming can make this deployment harder. You have been consistent with your inconsistency, Army, and your new and unusual ways of torture – ways that I can’t anticipate, but know will be far worse than anything I can prepare for. I don’t know wh...

Ancient wisdom fueling modern fires. Trying out the new gouges →. January 24, 2011. I just can’t seem to find much shop time, but I count my blessings. I have a wonderful family. I did manage to put together a couple of quick crooked knives. We went up on the mountain to take the kids sledding and I grabbed some pine to see how they worked. I’ll post a shot of the spoon when I finish it. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. Trying out the new gouges →. January 26, 2011 at 1:47 pm. You are commenting u...

Ancient wisdom fueling modern fires. Spoons from south of the border →. April 29, 2011. Well, I got out to the forge on Wednesday. Just couldn’t handle being away anymore. I forged out a little integral. The metal flowed smoothly. The solid feel of the hammer felt like reconnecting with an old friend. I’m thinking about creosote for the handle. Started forging out the tang. Shape looks pretty good. But…. Look how small it is! This one is a mini. This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

Updated: I have re-written the post so it is now more comprehensible and easy to navigate through to the other posts. I've been wanting to start this post in quite some time now.
