There slime makes it easier to move and protects them from sharp objects in the garden, such as rocks and twigs. So if you spot a oorey-gooey slimy trail in your garden then the culprit is a slug for sure! A slug could crawl over a sharp razor and not be cut. Slug use there sense of smell to find there way round the garden. They can also use their slime trail to find there way home. It is when their gooey slim drys it turns a silver colour. Slugs like cool moist places to hang out! On my computer screen.
