One of the original goals for the Arts Council was to help create a percent of sales tax (1/10 of 1%) for art, similar to Salt Lakes ZAP (Zoo Arts and Parks) Tax. Our immediate focus is to prepare a County-wide tax project which would go before the voters in 2013, and benefit established and new Arts and Recreation Programs throughout Washington County. Open community meetings continue to be held throughout Washington County to gain feedback and support from residents for the project.

WCAC was established by a resolution of the County Commission in 2007, after several years of public meetings. The volunteer Board meets monthly to further the Council's goals.
