a soft armour: Why grow up?
http://asoftarmour6.blogspot.com/2015/07/why-grow-up.html
The suit brings me everywhere. On the Czech-Polish border these days to teach and learn from a group of young artists. Today I walked into the projectroom in my suit, nobody was there since we all had a day off but on the table I found a book that made me smile. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). a soft armour: november 2013
http://asoftarmour.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Zondag 3 november 2013. I never thought I would ever wear a jogging suit in public. Emilia's suit. Three pieces again, sweatshirt, trousers and a t-shirt in a matching colour. One day we were picking grapes, it started raining, we got soaked. The rest of the afternoon we spent in Emilia's kitchen. She searched for dry clothes. She told me I could keep them. a soft armour: oktober 2013
http://asoftarmour.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Dinsdag 15 oktober 2013. With my 4 year old shop assistent who knew all about elephants and fixing broken memories. She brought me lots of memories too. Big ones and small ones. Even now she still does. Sometimes a customer would take a nap in the back of the shop to dream of old memories or we would work on forgetting instead of remembering. Sometimes we would just talk and memories would pop up. Sometimes I collected my own memories, created new ones with other nomads. Nomadic Village, 6-10-2013. It is...

a soft armour: March 2015
http://asoftarmour6.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
I found a pair of green trousers in a laundromat. They had been washed and abandoned, the stains hadn’t come out, they covered most of the right leg. I took them home. I’ve got a soft spot for stains. They are like islands in a sea of ordinariness, messing things up, happy reminders. More about the clothes in my Pocket Memory shop HERE. The sky was cloudy today but I did see the sun getting smaller and bigger again. But it didn’t really. It stayed the same. Other things changed, moved. We passed a man in...

a soft armour: a snail burial
http://asoftarmour6.blogspot.com/2015/05/a-snail-burial.html
Yesterday I attended a snail burial. He (or she, let’s say he) had a good life. He grew up in Sweden. Brought in by monks in the 12th century. So they could eat something tasty on their fasting days. They didn’t consider them meat. He spent a week in a gallery. In the small town where he was born. Performing together with 107 other snails. From there he travelled on a train up north. To join me and 14 of his companions. Researching the pioneer life in the Swedish forest. He came back with me to Amsterdam.

a soft armour: The first day.
http://asoftarmour6.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-first-day.html
It took me 7 hours to leave. I sat on all the benches in town, said goodbye to people, waved out my students. And when I got back in the world it didn’t seem like I got lost in time like Rip van Winkle did, it was still the 23d of July, a Thursday. Sitting in my garden I wondered if I would be back in Sokolowsko. A home, a job, wild food in abundance. What more do you need? There’s one thing. Human company. Today is another day. The first day. Again. 29 July 2015 at 09:49. Exercises in being here.

walking (sideways): Hunting & gathering day 4
http://moniquesideways.blogspot.com/2012/10/hunting-gathering-day-4.html
Vrijdag 5 oktober 2012. Hunting and gathering day 4. Today I had the speed of a turtle, I got bigger and bigger. I found a big yellow arrow pointing in the direction I was heading. Hours of suffering felt like seconds the moment I had reached my goal. Like always I felt happy and sad. Happy to be somewhere. Sad not to be nowhere anymore. Driving by slowly. Right next to it Turkish men were collecting walnuts in a small park. Geplaatst door monique besten. Abonneren op: Reacties plaatsen (Atom).

walking (sideways): Hunting and gathering day 2
http://moniquesideways.blogspot.com/2012/10/plastic-memory.html
Woensdag 3 oktober 2012. Hunting and gathering day 2. Later on in the day I find bags filled with plastic along the road. One bag first, then six, then twenty or so. At first I'm delighted. Then I realise how many people live along this road. More than 27. More than 270. Maybe even more than 2700. Geplaatst door monique besten. Abonneren op: Reacties plaatsen (Atom). Why would you want a river when somebody offers yo. Retracing the missing link. Hunting and gathering day 4. Hunting and gathering day 3.
