11 Webcams wurden an den Fluessen aufgestellt, die vom Merapi herunterkommen. Das sind auch die Hauptwege der Lahars, Schlammfluesse, die bei Regenwetter ausgeloest werden. Ab einer gewissen Regenmenge mobilisiert sich die lockere Vulkanasche des letzten Ausbruchs und kommt als ungeheuer schnelle und hohe Wasser-/Schlammwelle die Flusstaeler herunter.
