The history of the Vltava goes all the way back to 1030s when The Prague Steamboat Company decided to modernize its fleet which had expanded in the past only by buying used boats. After a renovation in 1991 the steamboat was used as a boat restaurant and since the 2007-2009 renovation, which was to bring back its long lost splendour, the Vltava has been offering luxury cruises through Prague. These cruises you can enjoy today, just as our ancestors enjoyed in the hay day of steamboats.

The steamer was built as part of the extensive modernisation of the Prague Steamship Company which took place between 1937-1938. The modernisation covered all types of ship, and part of which was how to fix and improve existing boats as well as to build new ones.Out of four steamers which were built at that time, two are still in action- the VLTAVA and the VYŠEHRAD.

Welcome to our website. A piece of history . Construction of the Vltava began in the late 1930s as a part of revival of Prague Steamboat Company s fleet and was used for a fast connection between Prague and Štěchovice and Slapy, where it was transporting passengers for many years. It has been through several renovations but the refurbishment in 2007-2009 brought out the original beauty so now you can set on a cruise through Prague on this reminder of old times.
