VK6RLM Lesmurdie

http://vk6uu.id.au/vk6rlm-lesmurdie.html

VK6RLM Roleystone (site 2). VK6RLM was WARG's 3rd 2 metre Perth repeater and was the testbed for the FM880 project. This repeater has an interesting history. At one time it had a 3 second time out. At another time it was linked to a 29MHz simplex FM Gateway. The repeater was linked to VK6RUF for the WARG Sunday net. The new repeater is not the original FM880 but an Icom IC-FR5000. VK6RAW

147 MHz TX 146.4 MHz receive. VK6RAW went on air in the mid 1970's at Mt. Latham near Wagin and was the results of several local amateurs, VK6LD (Dennis) VK6GS (Gary) and VK6JI (Chris). The original equipment was a mix of what ever could be found and proved difficult to keep on air. I have some of the original log book of VK6RAW showing how much effort was put in to keep the repeater on air (link below). Early log book of VK6RAW. Letter to WARG announcing the expensive purchase.

FM in VK6

http://vk6uu.id.au/fminvk6.html

FM in VK6 before voice repeaters were established. The introduction of FM in Australia and in particular VK6 was due to the desire by amateurs to go mobile. Many amateurs post WW2 had done so on a variety of bands from 160 metres to UHF. The limiting factor was cheap easily available equipment, apart from the difficulty that valve technology introduced. Pye Reporter VHF AM mobile transceiver. Pye FM Ranger FM mobile transceiver. Without talk-through repeaters yet in VK6, amateurs worked hard to get the m...

First licenced in 1978 for a couple of years as VK5NRN, I've only just got back into ham radio, finally obtaining a full ticket in late May 2009. View my complete profile. The other 'stuff' I ordered was a couple of OT SMT (surface mount technology which equals REALLY SMALL UNIT), a GP525 tiny GPS receiver module (designed for internal use) and an experimenters solderless breadboard (I can buy these locally but importing them from Argent in the USA is cheaper! The antenna is a Comet mobile tri-bander (6/...

Send us an email. Find us on the map. I got my first Novice callsign in 1977 although my first experiences with radio and electronics was in 1962, when I first encountered circuit diagrams in library books. The valve era was in decline and I started by building a crystal set, with transistor amplifier, of the germanium variety.
