Center console lobsterboat hulls

Half model taking shape at the bench. Fairing the half model. Half model on layout board. Model on layout board. Above is a similar hull. This is a model of a hull built by Johns Bay Boat Co. The hull that I drew has slightly less flair and less height in the bow. I have recently drawn a couple of lobsterboat hulls. One is 17.5 feet and the other is 21.5 feet. I can also supply trailers from Load-Rite Trailers located here in PA. Painted fiberglass covered marine plywood fore and aft decks and washrails.

John Gardner Whitehall

She has an attractive sprit rig. Ready to roll on her trailer. Spars and oars stowed. Whitehall plank repair underway. Close up of plank repair. Trunkside removed to be rebedded. New steam bent frames going in. Sheer plank, stem, and keel varnished and hull primed. Centerboard trunk reinstalled with new frames. Interior varnished and reinstalled. I removed the centerboard trunk and rebed the bedlogs. I also reshaped and painted the centerboard itself. Please contact me for more information.

The Half Hull Model. The ship's half hull model has been used for centuries as a way of designing a vessel's hull. Today most boats are designed using computers or at least they start on the drafting board as a profile design. An exception to this is Peter Kass at John's Bay Boat Co. Ready to head home. Whitehall built in Washington, Maine. A local customer happened to bring by a whitehall rowboat that was built in Washington, Maine. We had just moved from that small town so it was nice to see the plaque. She was having trouble is some of her planks. They had cracks in them clear through the planking. She was weakened and taking on water. Her finish was very old and needed redone. I fixed the cracks in the planking and cleaned up her transom. She also received paint and varnish.
