Vietnam Trip 2008: Water Buffalo Tails

http://vietnamtrip2008.blogspot.com/2008/06/water-buffalo-tails.html

Saturday, June 21, 2008. On the second day in Cao. San, the Red Dao. San At the time she didn't think much about it, as it wasn't particularly painful. It was like being hit by an enthusiastic dog's tail. Such a different life: to commonly be in the proximity of water buffaloes! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Vietnam Trip 2008: Hmong Captures

http://vietnamtrip2008.blogspot.com/2008/06/hmong-captures.html

Sunday, June 1, 2008. In Dong Van we were attending the market and in what looked like a soccer field, there was a public trial going on. Two men had kidnapped a local peasant girl from the Flower Hmong tribe, and sold her to a Chinese farmer. They got eight years in prison. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Vietnam Trip 2008: The Market

http://vietnamtrip2008.blogspot.com/2008/05/market.html

Saturday, May 31, 2008. When you first approach the market (we visited three), it is up into the mountains on a winding road. On the shoulders of the road are families walking to or coming from the market, sometimes herding water buffalo or cows; often wearing large baskets. With horse hair straps. The mountains loom up in the background, and everywhere there isn't sheer rock is planted with corn. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Our First Trip To Vietnam. 2007 Trip to Vietnam. Vietnam Trip 2008: The Village

http://vietnamtrip2008.blogspot.com/2008/06/village.html

Sunday, June 1, 2008. Why are you walking? It is common also to see the smallest toddlers and babies being carried by their sisters who were only a few years older than themselves. Fortunately, they didn't pressure me to drink more; although they had many more shots themselves. We stayed three nights at the Cao. San, even the absence of motorbikes. It was usually very misty, with clouds shrouding the mountain tops. One day we got a hard rain for several hours. This was the home of the Red Dao. Again, we ...

Vietnam Trip 2007: December 2007

http://vietnamtrip2007.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html

Sunday, December 23, 2007. We frequently were driving in the country side, sometimes for three hours at a time, so I have many photos of the motor bikes loads. Like in other countries we visited, many people were after our dollars and we were sometimes overcharged, or targets for street sales – sometimes seemingly out of the middle of nowhere. "Last price, three dollars! On the other hand, I found the Vietnamese more willing to engage with foreigners, and "Where are you from? 8217;t many still alive!

CHINA TRIP - - 2009. Saturday, October 3, 2009. My travel wholesaler in China has made two attempts to view my blog without success. It is possible I'll get to China and discover my site is blocked. MYANMAR 2013: THE TOURIST TRAP

http://myanmartrip2013.blogspot.com/2013/03/the-tourist-trap.html

Saturday, March 16, 2013. You may notice the many tourists taking photos of the monks on their way to their morning meal. The monks at this monestary (Sasnayaunggyi Kyaung) a thousand monks reside. Unfortunately, there must have been four times that many tourists photographing and josseling each other for a better vantage point. The crowd must have been four or five deep! http://chinatrip10-09.blogspot.com/2009/11/great-wall.html

CHINA TRIP - - 2009. Sunday, November 15, 2009. In my last post about this trip. And presumably the first you'll read). This portion of the wall was built in 1368 and restored in 1983. Construction of the Great Wall, in its entirety, spanned the 5th BC to the16th Century, and millions were pressed into service as laborers by the Emperors of five different dynasties. This section of the wall isn't overun by tourists. As you can see),. For More of My Photos of China. OUR OTHER TRIP LINKS.

MYANMAR 2013: THANAKHA & BETEL NUT

http://myanmartrip2013.blogspot.com/2013/03/thanakha-betel-nut.html

Saturday, March 16, 2013. THANAKHA and BETEL NUT. Thanakha is a paste made by rubbing the bark of the Thanakha tree onto a grindstone with water, and then smearing it on your face. It is used as sun block, moisterizer and perfume. It is worn by all Burmese and is very common, sometimes artfully shaped like a leaf on young, fashion conscious girls. Note that the woman above has her mouth full. She is chewing betel nut which produces a mild stimulant, red teeth and spit. MIKE'S OTHER BLOGS WEBSITES.

Vietnam in a Nutshell

Vietnam in a Nutshell. Vietnam is a beautiful country. I took quite few pictures, some of which are here. Posted by Paul @ 10:46 PM. Vietnam is so incredibly different from Canada, it's really hard to describe. Having said that, here are a few tips I came up with, in case you ever decide to go. 3 Advertised english speaking tour guides are like real estate listings indicating a finished basement. You have to see it to believe it. In my opinion, sporadic carpeting and some panelling does not a fur...6 Be ...
