Vicariously through Cari: August 2013

http://www.vicariouslythroughcari.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, August 1, 2013. I Got a Dog. Joy finally relented to my pestering and said yes to getting a dog as long as it was a German Shepherd Dog. Yea! I like big dogs and. well, you know the rest. I researched German Shepherds and found two rescue groups in Houston. I ended up going with the Greater Houston German Shepherd Dog Rescue. From the time I turned in the application to when we got Gabriela was about three weeks. It took a little longer because she was undergoing treatment for heart worms.

Vicariously through Cari: 2014: Fulfill Some Dreams and Spanish-English Dictionary

http://www.vicariouslythroughcari.blogspot.com/2014/01/2014-become-writer.html

Tuesday, January 7, 2014. 2014: Fulfill Some Dreams and Spanish-English Dictionary. Today I read this. I liked what he had to say, but I really liked his idea of how anytime we wanted to sort of rework himself, he would start a new project. He also talked about how he did a project called Today. Where he took a picture and wrote a story every day starting on his 30th birthday and continued for 440 days. A story a day? What does it mean that Alina cried the tears of heartbreak without the broken heart?

Thursday, January 16, 2014. Little Alex Wins a Washing Machine. He then started describing himself. When his mother realized that he had won, she was so excited she started crying. Only later did he realize that they couldn't use the washing machine since they didn't have electricity. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Bunnies on the Bayou. DJ Joy De La O. Vicariously through Cari: Jazz Musician Junkie

http://www.vicariouslythroughcari.blogspot.com/2014/01/jazz-musician-junkie.html

Wednesday, January 8, 2014. This is my dream from last night. I guess I dream in cliches a bit, huh? A 20-something musician, mainly jazz, heroin addict was looking to clean up his life and looking for his father who left the family when the 20-something was very young, like two years old. Jr picks up the box and opens it upside down. Out falls a prescription bottle of Dilaudid and a bundle of heroin. The words "what are you doing with this" can't even form on Jr's lips. His own driving desir...Until it ...

http://mummius.blogspot.com/2009/06/catching-up.html

An Outreach for Traveling Sparrows. Chocolate-covered bloggy goodness with a nougat center. Wednesday, June 24, 2009. As I have been a very lax blogger, I wanted to post a little band-aid post to get things up to date. I will, however, have to do a few more detailed posts to fill in the gaps better. Let's see. The last post had me in the Ottawa airport returning from FSAC. Probably the best news coming out of the conference was that I was awarded the Buchan student paper award for best student paper!

An Outreach for Traveling Sparrows. Chocolate-covered bloggy goodness with a nougat center. Friday, February 27, 2009. There have been better mornings. I feel an extreme sense of dread today. Like something bad is going to happen. This is not good. Wednesday, February 25, 2009. Antsy in the pantsy. So, I'm trying to focus on reading a student paper for work for a session tomorrow, but I totally cannot focus. I thought that writing a blog entry might help. We'll see. Sunday, February 15, 2009. An Outreach for Traveling Sparrows. Chocolate-covered bloggy goodness with a nougat center. Friday, October 31, 2008. So, day two has gone well. I had breakfast with Jenn’s family, and then hit the road to go to the subway station. I have to admit, I really like taking subways. I think this may have to do with the abysmal state of Houston’s mass transit—I find public transit that works smoothly something quite enjoyable. Toronto, ON, 2008. Toronto, ON, 2008. An Outreach for Traveling Sparrows. Chocolate-covered bloggy goodness with a nougat center. Monday, May 25, 2009. I am so smart.S-M-R-T. I am typing this from the Ottawa airport. There will be a post that recaps FSAC, but that will come later. I mainly wanted to document this moment of brilliance. My flight leaves at 7 pm. No wonder it wasn't listed. Somehow, I had read my itinerary wrong or somehow got the wrong time stuck in my head. Tue Jun 16, 04:34:00 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

An Outreach for Traveling Sparrows: NL Experience #1: Bidgood's and Flipper Pie

An Outreach for Traveling Sparrows. Chocolate-covered bloggy goodness with a nougat center. Wednesday, May 13, 2009. NL Experience #1: Bidgood's and Flipper Pie. Last Friday, Dave and I trekked down to Bidgood's. In the Goulds to pick up some flipper pie. Even though the Goulds is only about a 15 minute drive from St. John's, it feels really far away from town. However, on this trip, we were on a mission. So, among other impulse buys, we bought individual flipper pies. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

An Outreach for Traveling Sparrows. Chocolate-covered bloggy goodness with a nougat center. Tuesday, May 19, 2009. NL Experience #3: Northern Bay Sands. Andrea, Craig, Dave, and I ventured up to Northern Bay Sands. On Monday. NBS is about a 1.5-hour drive out of St. John's, which made it kind of a trek but not too bad. As it is still May in Newfoundland, it wasn't "beachy" weather, but it was cool to go to a sand beach that is (kind of) near town. Here are some pics:. Northern Bay Sands, NL, 2009.

An Outreach for Traveling Sparrows. Chocolate-covered bloggy goodness with a nougat center. Friday, August 29, 2008. Wasting time on the computer in the Folklore Department. Having just finished catching up on some. Paperwork on campus, I now find myself glancing out the window of the grad room and contemplating lunch. It's such a icky day out, with a foggy mist clinging over everything. So, instead of running out into the weather, I figure I will write a quick blog entry. Woo! Granted, I guess I have li...

Vicariously Paleo Paleo recipes and dinner ideas from a reluctantly paleo husband. Paleo Shredded Pork Tamale. I wasn’t sure what to call this since it in no way looks like a tamale, but it tastes like on in all the best ways. So paleo shredded pork tamale seemed like the closes description for the dish. August 12, 2015. Last family photo op for a while; we just moved our oldest into her freshman college dorm room, four hours away. It was a successful day, although not without its fair share of Jameson-isms, tears, and a roller coaster of emotions. Actually, less like a roller coaster, more like a minefield. More on that at a later date on another post…. July 23, 2015. Religion, viCariously Speaking…. Religion. Always a touchy subject and I am probably going to piss a lot of people off with this post.

Monday, October 17, 2011. Last week in Italia. Since I had already visited most of the sights I pretty much relaxed for my time in Florence. I was able to walk the streets and soak in the atmosphere of one of my favorite cities without the stress of trying to cram in the sites. It was a great time with great people. Definitely a city I could live in. So, off to London until Thursday, then Dublin for the weekend. Yes, perfect! Firenze, one last time. Meykadeh Libreria Cafe, my favorite place to hang out.
