The Kid Rants: October 2009
http://thekidrants.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 13, 2009. Where we go from here. I've been reading a few things recently:. Turning Learning Right Side Up. By Russel L. Ackoff and Daniel Greenberg. Reflections on the Sudbury School Concept. Edited by Mimsy Sadofsky and Daniel Greenberg. And lots of other stuff too, but those two have been interesting, to say the least. Another post for another time perhaps. I decided that I'd like to create a more democratic environment within my classroom, but it will be interesting to see how much of...

The Kid Rants: Same old Lance
http://thekidrants.blogspot.com/2013/01/same-old-lance.html
Friday, January 18, 2013. Lance Armstrong pretended to tell the truth for the past 15 years about his cycling accomplishments, the doping he didn't practice, the things that other people said that he did, about who he was as a person. And then he went on Oprah last night to tell the truth, the real truth. And he continued to pretend. But don't get caught in the "level playing field argument.". Read Betsy Andreu's interview with Austin Murphy. Read Greg Lemond's comments on cyclingnews.com. And elsewhere&...

The Kid Rants: A True Champion
http://thekidrants.blogspot.com/2013/01/a-true-champion.html
Saturday, January 26, 2013. Given the recent revelations from Lance Armstrong. If you haven't watched Senna. The documentary from Working Title Films. I must recommend very strongly that you do. It isn't overly long, it isn't overly sappy, but it will change the way you view racing and introduce you to at least several sides of an interesting man who was a great champion. Than the powerful but refined machines that F1 drivers today manage will awaken you to what it must have taken to do what he did.

The Kid Rants: March 2010
http://thekidrants.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Friday, March 19, 2010. Two wonderful posts all smashed up together. Hip and VERY NOT HIP. Alright, so none of us are actually cool hipsters, and not one of us rides a fixie. We have a couple single-speeds in the group but they are wimpy with conversion kits, front and rear brakes, etc. But hip we are not. Though Mohsen is very cool and has some nifty stuff, not sure that he qualifies as hip. They have loads of other awesome stuff at REload. I know that is a dumb question but just listen in:. 100 Miles t...

The Kid Rants: My Kind of race
http://thekidrants.blogspot.com/2011/06/my-kind-of-race.html
Monday, June 20, 2011. My Kind of race. We spent the rest of the day relaxing, had an incredible lunch at the Chair 6. We start in age group waves, sort of random, women and tandems first, then 20-29 and 60-69 started five minutes later. Then us 30-39 year-olds started up the road. That I can do this year. The Kid Rants: May 2009
http://thekidrants.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 06, 2009. Today I was reminded via email to submit attendance for a class that ISN'T EVEN HERE! The seniors are out of school to do their senior projects but we still have to take attendance. We mark that they are all here. I happened to be working on this for another presentation:. Suddenly incompetent teachers can’t get in the way of numbers. Overburdened secretaries can’t delay their triumph each and every day. Substitutes won’t be fooled by Jane calling here w...View my complete profile.

The Kid Rants: Finally opened my account
http://thekidrants.blogspot.com/2011/06/finally-opened-my-account.html
Wednesday, June 01, 2011. Finally opened my account. 1st in Cat. 4 and 6th overall. I actually averaged a bit faster on the longer return leg and felt good enough to get up to 31-32mph on the (I think) slight decline over the last 1-2K to the finish. It was also convenient that there were several guys that were ahead of me that I could focus on catching them over the last little bit. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. The Kid Rants: July 2010
http://thekidrants.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Saturday, July 24, 2010. Did you ever get into your blog dashboard (if you are primitive like me) and get distracted from the task of writing something only to read someone else's blog leading only to further distraction and in the end a helpless feeling of inferiority that makes you seriously consider never writing anything again? I feel like that all the time. Which is a good thing in my book. Two last semi-random notes. 2 The folks at the Sudbury Valley School. Really, this is a school? Can you imagin...
