http://ninthstreeteast.blogspot.com/2011/01/felt-creatures.html
January 18, 2011. My mother bought me a wonderful little book called Felties. By Nelly Pailloux. It is full of awesome tutorials on how to make 18 different cute little creatures. I instantly fell in love with them all and had to bring them to life by making them myself. Close up of Mushroom Girl. These little guys are only 3 inches tall and are full of amazing little stitched or beaded details. January 18, 2011 at 8:48 PM. I need to look for that book. January 19, 2011 at 10:46 AM. A Journey Through Knitting Around by EZ. Confession: I completed the Aran coat two weeks ago. Yes, it’s been finished for awhile now. But I have found excuses not to blog about it. I was too busy… it wasn’t blocked… I need buttons. I think I’ve been putting it off because, well, this is the last project. I am at the end. It’s almost finished. I have really enjoyed this project. What a journey of life it has taken me through! Anyways, I’m waxing sentimental on you… so sorry. Now I am on the hunt for some ...

July 31, 2012. Country Life - Week Three. Standing under this rainbow made me feel like I was at the top of the world. One evening, out the kitchen window, we spotted the start of this beautiful rainbow. We all ran out through the mowed maze (Yes! To the top of the hill. We stood there as the full rainbow developed. A double touchdown. We got to see both ends perfectly and felt like we were standing directly under it. It truly was awe inspiring! You can't see that in the city! Utility knives, class etchi...

June 30, 2012. Our first order of buisness was to explore Fisherman's Wharf. Grandma and Sophie walk hand in hand. Bungy-Trampoline Jolly Jumper thing. The kids loved this so much! Located right on the Wharf, see all the sailboats in the background. California Academy of Sciences. Was a full day event for us and we still didn't see it all. One of the largest Museums of Natural History in the world! We will definitely go back. It was so busy I couldn't even stop the car to take my own picture! After the c...

November 2, 2011. Different than school, because the choice to opt out is always available. This year the kids are involved in 'Aspiring Young Artist Workshop', 'Kids Yoga', 'Geography Club', and 'Stories and Crafts.'. We have a large home educating community (about 500 families) and there are often a lot of clubs, classes and workshops that get put together by various mentors, professionals and parents with passions. My contribution to this pool of resources is LEGO Quest. Then they got to make salsa...

October 28, 2011. Simon's latest stop motion video featuring some of his new LEGO creations. He worked on this in his bedroom one day and came out with all the photos meticulously taken on the digital camera. His dad downloaded them to iMovie without editing and this is what was filmed. We tend to head outside everyday for a good chunk of time. Simon is honing his BMX skills. Addressing the envelops to his friends. October 22, 2011. It's that time of year again, colder and wetter days are bringing us ind...

February 28, 2012. The Wand Picks the Wizard. A Harry Potter passion has officially entered the kids lives. Simon is reading the first novel and they have watched the first two movies. Probably their favourite has been listening to the audio books together and spending hours drawing in sunbeams. We are lucky enough to have Dido (my late first husbands father) in our lives, a talented artisan woodworker. He has an amazing workshop, as you can see (and this is only half of it! Some were his dads, which he ...

November 1, 2012. September is always a month where I seem to get caught up in the back to school frenzy that's happening all around us. I have to remember that with homeschooling we don't have to change a thing. We can go on like it's still summer, and keep on enjoying our slow paced life where we can dig into our interests. Sophie catches a toad on one of our nature walks. They learn all aspects of horse partnership. Grooming, saddling, riding, etc. The sketch book has been put to the side more and mor...

May 24, 2012. What Kept Us Busy in April? I sat down one afternoon and did a 5 minute sketch painting and Sophie joined right in. Mine is the top, Sophie's is the bottom. She really enjoyed copying what I was working on and the end result was a more sophisticated piece of work than my own! I love how loose and intuitive her painting is. We were lucky enough to have Baba set up a couple days of Pysanka. They handwrite letters complete with artwork, or they type one out on an old school type writer. Simon ...
