Neuregulin3/ErbB4 Signaling During Nicotine Withdrawal. Neuregulin 3 is a member of the neuregulin family. SNPs in this gene and its cognate receptor, ErbB4 (HER4), have been implicated in nicotine dependence, but also in disorders known to be highly co-morbid with smoking, such as schizophrenia and ADHD. This project will involve multiple transgenic mouse models and experiments planned for this project will include electrophysiology, genomics, and animal behavior. NRG3 and Nicotine Dependence.

Dr Jill Turner has investigated nicotinic receptors since 2002, as a graduate student with Dr. Kenneth Kellar at Georgetown University. After graduating, Jill continued her training as a post-doctoral fellow with Dr. Julie Blendy at the University of Pennsylvania. Her main interest lies in how nicotinic receptors can both help and hinder brain function. In addition to science, Jill enjoys books and traveling with her family. Dr Luyi Zhou, Post-doctoral Fellow. Ow does the brain extract information about sensory stimuli? How is this information utilized to guide behavior and to form memories? We address these questions in the appealingly simple nervous system of the fruitfly, where we focus on olfactory processing.
