We found a very nice camp in Hot Springs (a township) called Cold Brook Lake U.S. Army Corps of Engineers RV Park. A nearby day drive took us to Custer State Park. Custer State Park is known for its 1500 population of North American Bison. The day trip ended at the Crazy Horse Memorial. This is a model sculpture of the finished monument. The bridge was transported in pieces to Lake Havasu and rebuilt with modifications to carry the weight of modern traffic. It was opened in 1971. Interesting iron plate running statues in the park. There was a Chevrolet Corvette rally the day we arrived. This is a collage of a few of them. Rafters in the distance meander down Snake River. Cache Street looking toward the ski slopes. This is the Tourist Information centre. They have amazing displays of animals found in the vicinity. The walls are also adorned with impressive paintings. An Elk horn chandelier. What, more Elk horns! The Old Faithful Inn.

We were lucky as we tried to book a departure from Vancouver, BC and because of credit card hiccups our booking expired. Moab is an ideally situated town to visit Canyonlands and Arches NP's. This was our overnight stop. Unfortunately the truckers also used it. An overnight stop at Hole in the Rock. As we drove toward Moab we were confronted with this huge painted sign. The other side of the rock was our overnight stop. A golfer made of iron clubs. A giant lizard wall hanging.

We had a little practice with a 40 calibre Glock. Apache Junction, near Phoenix. There is a drive we were told about which starts at Apache Junction, where we stayed, and travels through the Superstition Mountains. On the Apache Trail. Was a mining town around 1893. Now it plays host to tourists. This country is Saguaro Cactus. Oracle, Biosphere 2.

December 2012 our US entry permit came to an end so we placed our RV and Chevy into storage near Palm Springs and flew back to Melbourne, Australia. We stayed with my sister and B-I-L, Lyn and Ian, in Sale. We saw the New Year in an old woodshed which had been decked out to entertain by friends of Lyn and Ian.
