Back to the last semi-successful gasp of regional independence- some of the good-to-decent teams that surrounded Tulane’s 1987 Independence Bowl. Appearance. That was an era where a minor bowl bid meant something. Washington did fly across the country to play Tulane. Grand Marshall Chuck Yeager was there too. 9 Richard Harvey,. I’ve made this point on here be...

Frank Helps You Think It All Out: November 2004
http://frankmcgrath.blogspot.com/2004_11_01_archive.html
Frank Helps You Think It All Out. Tuesday, November 30, 2004. The Rise of Scelfo. All Tulane fans must constantly deal with a gnawing fear- if the Wave wins too many games the architect of our success, the head coach, is always soon gone. A tornado of cash, a few bitter recriminations, and an "Era of Good Feeling"-. A reference the Tulane grad can appreciate/understand. That is outstanding for a place like Tulane- and will draw interest. I think the part of the Tulane community that has brains and has a ...

Frank Helps You Think It All Out: August 2004
http://frankmcgrath.blogspot.com/2004_08_01_archive.html
Frank Helps You Think It All Out. Tuesday, August 31, 2004. The resurgence late last year was fueled by improved play from the offensive line and a spirited Jovon Jackson, some candidly solid quarterback play, and a defense that seemed to bluntly play more loose and aggressively- as well as a schedule that was maybe easier than it appeared. While I don’t think this year will be a disaster, there are manifest problems. Let’s start with the defense. Just to be in it. Quarterback could do just that. Even th...

Frank Helps You Think It All Out: Tooling Around The Past
http://frankmcgrath.blogspot.com/2011/03/tooling-around-past.html
Frank Helps You Think It All Out. Friday, March 04, 2011. Tooling Around The Past. Tooling around Tulane’s recent football history, I was struck by how generationally Tulane hits utter rock-bottom. First, Tulane has the end of the utterly uncompetitive SEC era-. From 1957-1965, Tulane never won more than one SEC game in a given season. Second, the Green Wave suffered the horrid collapse of the the English regime in the seventies, followed in the 90s by the incompetent Buddy Teevens (11-45). Below .50...

Frank Helps You Think It All Out: August 2003
http://frankmcgrath.blogspot.com/2003_08_01_archive.html
Frank Helps You Think It All Out. Tuesday, August 26, 2003. 2003 Tulane Football Preview. I think this is the hardest season in several years to get a handle on. Can you honestly say you would be surprised by any win total from four to nine? For instance, I haven’t a clue about the defense. Can they continue their march back to respectability despite losing the defensive front and Tulane’s best defensive player since Brother Martin’s Pat Stant? Posted by Frank @ 4:57 PM. Frank Helps You Think It All Out: December 2004
http://frankmcgrath.blogspot.com/2004_12_01_archive.html
Frank Helps You Think It All Out. Tuesday, December 21, 2004. Philadelphia Roars: We will not give up! Let’s begin our analysis by considering Romans 8.28:. We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, to those called according to his purpose. Any analysis of the Dallas affair begins and ends really with the impact of TO’s season-ending injury. It was re-assuring to see the defense continue to play very well. There is no way he’s coming back next year, right? He cannot get op...

Frank Helps You Think It All Out: Top 25 Players: #7-#6

Frank Helps You Think It All Out. Friday, February 11, 2011. Top 25 Players: #7-#6. Frank Helps You Think It All Out. Can see by the utter lack of comments that defensive players from the Mack Brown era are not the readers' cup of tea. Back to C-USA offensive stars:. In the first and only national recruiting coup based on the '98 run, the number 3 prep quarterback transferred to Tulane from UCLA. Parade All-American J.P. Losman had come to Tulane. What did this distribution quarterback look like? Teams t...

Frank Helps You Think It All Out: Top 25 Players: Honorable Mention
http://frankmcgrath.blogspot.com/2011/02/top-25-players-honorable-mention.html
Frank Helps You Think It All Out. Friday, February 25, 2011. Top 25 Players: Honorable Mention. These guys were on my short list- but ultimately did not make the cut:. OG (1991-1994)- he could block, some good seasons lost amid the suffocating mediocrity. FB (1997-1999)- ideal west coast offense fullback and potential NFL draft pick, went to jail. DE (1999-2002)- all C-USA player, many sacks. OL (1996-1999)- the tackles stole the show, but Bowden inherited some great offensive linemen. Top 25 Players: #2.
