Tasty Morsels: About Tasty Morsels. Cooking. Eating. Photos. Stories. Adventure. Tasty Morsels brings together all the elements of an obsession with food - buying it, preparing it, cooking it, taking photos of it, learning about it, experimenting with it, sharing it, writing about it and eating it. It is a blog to share recipes from home cooking as well as food experiences and restaurant reviews from a variety of cultures. It's not meant to be taken too seriously though. It's all just a bit of fun, really.

You do come up with some delightful surprises sometimes, don’t you? The day I returned to Dili after our xmas holidays and perused your many fridges, all the stars aligned. I was meant to have this haloumi. I don’t even care that it cost something like $13. This relationship was meant to be. So, stuff the healthy crap! I urge you to try it.

Tasty Morsels: November 2010. Cooking. Eating. Photos. Stories. Adventure. Monday, November 22, 2010. Ploughman’s lunch with baba ganoush @ home. I love a ploughman’s lunch. I love its simplicity, its variety and the element of surprise when various combinations of cheeses, olives, salad ingredients, condiments and spreads are placed atop a solid foundation of wholesome bread. Eggplant pickle and baba ghanoush, the recipe of which is right here:. Juice of a lemon. 1 tsp cumin seeds. Dry fry the cumin see...

Tasty Morsels: September 2010. Cooking. Eating. Photos. Stories. Adventure. Friday, September 24, 2010. First dinner in Ubud @ Siam Sally. Have I mentioned that Wade and I had to go to Bali recently to renew our visas? What an amazing few days! After a couple of weeks of eating out for every meal in Dili, I was feeling pretty unhealthy. So it was surreal to suddenly find ourselves in Ubud, where eating out for every meal could actually be a nourishing and enjoyable experience. It started at Siam Sally.

Note to self: Castaways stir fries suck arse. Tonight I wanted healthy but tasty. I was imagining a really fresh, crunchy, veggie stir fry with golden tofu puffs soaking up all the flavour. 8221;, but in it went and I chewed those little eyeball slices up and swallowed them down. And a home-made pesto (made with Thai basil, but it tasted really fre...

Tasty Morsels: Roast Garlic Prawns in the shell @ Nin’s place. Cooking. Eating. Photos. Stories. Adventure. Monday, December 13, 2010. Roast Garlic Prawns in the shell @ Nin’s place. On a visit to my friend Janine’s new house in Wollongong, we got a bit creative for dinner. After being in Timor for so long, where browsing through cookbooks is fraught with limitations and negative self-talk (“There are no avocados in the market today, so no guacamole for us”, “Mmmm.SORBET! Oh, that’s right. 2 tsp sea salt.

Have you ever opened a tin of ham with one of those stupid key things? What about condensed milk straight off the spoon? Lettuce cups filled with sugar? Jelly crystals straight from the packet? I know you can relate to at least some of these! It’s time to get interactive on yo’ asses! Don’t be shy now. I want to know. Posted by Gillian Kennedy. They are about ...

Tasty Morsels: December 2010. Cooking. Eating. Photos. Stories. Adventure. Wednesday, December 15, 2010. Moroccan Lamb Shanks with pumpkin and sultanas and Mulberry-ade @ Mum’s place. There’s nothing like a good ol’ lamb shank with your dear ol’ mum, is there? I’m not quite sure what it is about mums and slow cooking, but it’s all very comforting, and, perhaps combined with some sort of menstrual-related need for iron, I was craving a real fall-off-the-bone meat dish.
