Irritatingly Optimistic: August 2015
http://irritatinglyoptimistic2.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Monday, 31 August 2015. I was really looking forward to Saturday. Started early - alarm set for 6.30 snow could get up and out to Frankie Farrells to watch the Newcastle United v Arsenal match (that we would have been watching at St. James' Park had we not been in Florida). Surprisingly the pub was really quiet - we were the only supporters there. We ordered breakfast and settled down at a table with a good view of one of the TV's in there. Eventually we parked up in a boggy field, new trainers ruined as...

Altruism | franiathecatlady

February 3, 2015. Sometimes I find it hard to remain optimistic about life. This should come as no surprise as I suffer from chronic depression, but even when I am well and happy there are things that are said and done around me. I’m not talking about terrible disasters or acts of unimaginable cruelty, but things that are said unthinkingly by well-meaning people. This second example of altruism convinced me that there are people in this world who are “too good to be true”. I had had the g...8221; During ...

I’ve pondered long and hard about writing a political post, but on reflection I need the thoughts I have to be out there. My thoughts may not meet with everyone’s approval. Apparently this vile privileged man represents the views of the downtrodden working class (just like his mate in the USA). Well as someone who comes from a working class background of centuries stan...

Monthly Archives: March 2015. March 20, 2015. Suffice it to say that I am now terribly disappointed in my collection of hairy babies with tails. They lied to me without any compunction. Who, I ask you all, am I supposed to believe in if not the little creatures I resuced from homelessness and with whom I have built up a relationship of love and mutual trust? Monthly Archives: May 2015. May 22, 2015. I have, once again been talking to one of the Heydon Centre cats. I asked Lily to tell me what she thought of the Heydon Centre, what sort of home she would like, and why she thinks she has been with us for so long. Here are her thoughts. Thank you for this opportunity to express myself. As you can see I am an absolutely stunning cat. I like to think of myself as Her Excellency because in a former life I was the cat ambassador to the Hapsburg Court. My other grea...

Monthly Archives: April 2015. April 22, 2015. Recently I decided to talk to Sox and Miranda to find out if they could think of any reason why they have been in the Heydon Centre for such a long time. The three of us sat together for some time, and I was witness to a remarkable conversation between these two very different cats. SOX: You take your time? The people who come to meet us in this place will make up their minds pretty quickly! You really aren’t giving yourself a chance. I mean, I know I don...

Irritatingly Optimistic: October 2014
http://irritatinglyoptimistic2.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Saturday, 25 October 2014. It's been almost a week since I completed the Newcastle Stampede but the day is still very vivid in my head, and a constant reminder of what a fat, stiff 51 year old can achieve when she puts her mind to it. So following on from my last post HERE. The Assert Warriors ready to Stampede. Dean got us mentally and physically prepared by putting us through our usual warm up drill and a prep talk telling us all to just enjoy ourselves.somewhat difficult when we were watching the ...

Irritatingly Optimistic: March 2014

Monday, 31 March 2014. You have a whole list of things that you could do but instead you keep looking for new ideas and adding them to the ever growing list of frustration. Start scrapbooking again. Use up some of those expensive supplies I have stashed away. Make some birthday cards to have handy instead of having to rush out and buy them. Carry on writing down my memories for the boys.make a decision, handwritten or typed. Collect some pebbles from the beach and paint them. 4 Dining room carpet is cream.
