Shongwe Zuid-Afrika, Thembalethu Nederland. In juli zijn we begonnen met de bouw van het Education Center: 'Golden Future'. Een ruimte voor internet-café, een ruimte voor de studenten, een ruimte voor het geven van cursussen en een ruimte voor de verhuur (groepsbijeenkomsten). Het gebouw is bijna klaar, nu nog de apparatuur en niet te vergeten: de mensen die het gaan doen! Feestelijke opening in 2012. Kidsclub Buffelspruit. Samen eten. Thembalethu Home Based Care. Thembalethu Home Based Care (THBC) is een NGO (niet gouvernementele organisatie), die zich inzet voor mensen met het HIV/Aidsvirus in de provincie Mpumalanga, Zuid-Afrika. 300 zorgmedewerkers van THBC bieden hulp in 22 dorpen rond Shongwe, een van de zwaarst getroffen gebieden vanZuid-Afrika. In de dorpen rondom Thembalethu zijn ruim 4000 weeskinderen. Soms is er een oma of tante die voor hen zorgt. Soms ook een zevenjarig meisje dat als hoofd van het gezin al de verantwoording heeft voor 2 of 3 jongere broertjes of zusjes. Het kan dan ook nog zijn dat ze zelfs geen huisje hebben. Zaterdag 30 maart 2013. Al bijna 18 jaar maak ik van geboortekaartjes een schoentje. Vervelen gaat het nooit. Ieder kaartje is weer anders en uniek op zich. De een lief de ander schattig of stoer. Een tijdje geleden ben ik naast de schoentjes ook wiegjes gaan maken. Ook zoooo leuk maar niet voor ieder kaartje geschikt. Het wiegje bestaat uit zoveel kleine deeltjes, dat het kaartje zelf niet teveel tekst mag bevatten anders is het echt niet meer leesbaar op de wigje zelf omdat het zo verkleind moet worden.
