Stuart's Blog: BEEP...BEEP
http://www.stuart-hay.com/2014/03/beepbeep.html
Running, Jazz, Coffee and Cake. Monday, 17 March 2014. Tried something a bit “unusual” for me yesterday on my LSD. Nothing spectacular … but I turned off the sound on my GPS. I kept on the autolap feature, just turned off the “beep” every time it clicked over another mile marker. I also did a circuit that I’ve dome many, many times before.but I ran it the “wrong” way round. Instead of what is normally a large 18 mile clockwise route I did anti-clockwise. Stuart's Blog: January 2010

Running, Jazz, Coffee and Cake. Sunday, 31 January 2010. KNEE DEEP IN THE NORTH SEA. Well, today saw me return to the world of competitive running - at last! After injury, holidays then races being cancelled it was finally time to don vest, pin on number, warm up, stand in a line then test my metal against others. The Berwick On Tweed leg of the Borders Cross Country series. And a cold, windy and wet experience it was. And I loved it! Still It's a race and it's the same for everyone. Main thing is. I...

Stuart's Blog: AS PETE AND DUD WOULD SAY......

Running, Jazz, Coffee and Cake. Wednesday, 2 July 2014. AS PETE AND DUD WOULD SAY. OK unless you haven’t guessed…this blog is all but dead and buried. It MIGHT come back at some point … or it may get posted to on the odd occasion when I feel I have something worth saying. There you will find my never ending words of love, admiration and respect for the tireless lads and lasses of the Scottish Civil Service, my hopes for a sunnier, happier Scotland under the benevolent, paternal care of Wee Eck and review...

Stuart's Blog: April 2010
http://www.stuart-hay.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Running, Jazz, Coffee and Cake. Friday, 30 April 2010. Ended up taking part in the interval session last night. I had gone out a run earlier, fully expecting to be on stopwatch duty. But Theresa, who is injured, offered to stand in - so I got to take part. Not sure that a full blown interval session is the best preparation for tomorrows Edinburgh to North Berwick race - but then again neither was Wednesday's hilly 19 miler! It's easy to see how "Somethin'" became the real classic that it is. It was r...

Running, Jazz, Coffee and Cake. Tuesday, 31 August 2010. IT'S WHAT ANY IDIOT WOULD DO. It's a strange thing with injuries, niggles, pains and what-nots, their arrival is often sudden, and painful, but their departure is slow and protracted ( and "yes" that includes the "Duke of Argylls"). Still not fully rid of Mr Sorerib, but feeling better than I've felt for weeks now. So, with the recovery on track I've gone and done what any idiot would do - I've entered the Loch Ness marathon! Three weeks with high ...

Stuart's Blog: February 2010
http://www.stuart-hay.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Running, Jazz, Coffee and Cake. Sunday, 28 February 2010. Well That's that for the best part of another year (well, 9 months or so). Cross country is over! Actually, I enjoyed the last one more than I thought I would and I felt quite strong during the run. A damp, cold day with just a bit of snow falling gave the run in Peebles a real winter feel to it. Luckily the snow wasn't as bad as the snow we passed through on the way to the race. Friday, 26 February 2010. It’s a more simplified form of the t...

Running, Jazz, Coffee and Cake. Tuesday, 27 July 2010. Don’t dislike cycling – just can’t get into it the same way as I can running. But at least it gets me out the house for a wee bit (“out to play”). I had hoped last night to get out and tap out 25 miles or so. However, constraints of time (we had to go to Tesco first – always a nightmare) meant it was closer to 18. The old ribcage felt none too bad, but that may have been due to the two Ibrufen and two paracetamol I’d necked earlier. Just got the junc...

Running, Jazz, Coffee and Cake. Wednesday, 31 March 2010. ONE TRIBE, TWO BILLS AND A GLIMPSE INTO MY OWN FUTURE. It's not easy being misanthropic. Well that's not entirely true - it certainly seems to come easy to me! In any case. I'm what you would call a "selective" misanthrope. I don't hate all of humanity. Most of it "yes", all of it? Like most people I inadvertently identify with and gravitate towards certain social groupings - "tribes" if you will. I assumed he was not only talking to. So why does ...

Running, Jazz, Coffee and Cake. Monday, 31 May 2010. WHEN I SAY I "MISS" IT. Another day - another run. That's four eight to nine mile runs in four days under the belt. This morning the sun was out - so it was a nice eight mile trot through Innerwick and then up via the pylon road to Weatherly before the quick downhill section back home (slowing slightly only to look again at the "crocodile"). Saturday, 29 May 2010. BURSTING AT THE SEAMS. Current storage arrangements are, at best, a bit of a mess. I ...
