The Cooking Contender

Saturday, February 11, 2012. This my friends is where it all began. This is where I found my love for cooking and baking and trying out new things and now I can’t stop! I found this site. And learned about cake pops, and my life just hasn't been the same since then. I continued on from cooking blog to cooking blog and here I am finally with my own. Below are a few of the different cake pops I've tried the past year or so. Easter bunnies. I made these for my nephews first birthday. Along with these chicks.

The Cooking Contender: October 2011

http://thecookingcontender.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Monday, October 31, 2011. For the past few years we’ve been going out with my nephews for Halloween. Everyone always comments on what an entourage they have. It’s so much fun watching them enjoy Halloween like I used to. I got this fabulous Halloween scarf from one of the ladies I work with and just had to incorporate it into one of my posts! These cake bars were tasty and gooey. Well actually I don’t,. But who’s keeping track? Press it into the cake pan. Pour the sweetened condensed milk over the top.

The Cooking Contender: January 2012

http://thecookingcontender.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

Tuesday, January 31, 2012. Chewy lemon snowdrop cookies. Today was one of those unseasonably warm Michigan days; a little tease of spring. It’s just not right I tell ya! Sure I enjoyed it, but I know winter weather will be right back to bite me in the butt! I have a question to ask you. Would you like one of these? Possibly with a glass of milk? Or maybe some lemonade? Then you need to start out with a little zest! Combine it with the butter, sugar, and honey. And this magically happens! Zest of 2 lemons.

The Cooking Contender: December 2011

http://thecookingcontender.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Saturday, December 24, 2011. So I bought one of these. I thought it would be a perfect idea to put in some turkey leftovers from the holidays. Boy was I right! Slice up some turkey to bite size pieces. Unroll the pie dough and cut a 4.5 by 3 inch rectangle. Fill the inside with pesto. A few slices of mozzarella cheese. Lastly, fill with turkey. Brush the edges with egg white. Place another pie dough piece on top and seal them together. Brush with egg whites and pierce with a fork then bake. So I'm far fr...

The Cooking Cooks

Welcome to our blog! This is a place for the Cook family to share their favorite recipes and ideas with each other, and with anyone else who is interested. Thursday, September 27, 2012. This bread is so good, and since I grew up eating it I can hardly stand the store bought stuff. It's not that hard to make, but can be a little tricky to explain, so I wanted to put a post up with lots of pictures. First I grind my whole white wheat berries. This is what it looks like after the 12 min. Roll up the rectang...
