The Bitten Bullet: Artbrau 2015 - Part 2

http://thebittenbullet.blogspot.com/2015/04/artbrau-2015-part-2.html

Every new beer is a risk. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet. Wednesday, 29 April 2015. Artbrau 2015 - Part 2. I hadn't eaten since breakfast, so at this stage something was needed to act as a buffer. Outside, they had GrillGott. The first stop was Faust. Sounded good, and at 11% ABV and a cost of two tokens (so two Euro) for the 100ml sample, I reckoned - or at least hoped - it had to be good. I had to try them. On ordering the Welde Badish Gose. Was no exception, despite having been barrel aged...

The Bitten Bullet: January 2013

http://thebittenbullet.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Every new beer is a risk. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet. Tuesday, 22 January 2013. I got wind of Thomas' latest Hopfenstopfer creation via Twitter a couple of months ago, and promptly ordered a crate of the stuff: Incredible Pale Ale. I've been sharing with friends, neighbours and the postman since then, though naturally keeping the lion's share for myself. Well, the last two disappeared down my throat last week. Hopfenstopfer Incredible Pale Ale. Links to this post. Monday, 7 January 2013.

The Bitten Bullet: February 2014

http://thebittenbullet.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html

Every new beer is a risk. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet. Friday, 28 February 2014. 2014 - The Traditionalists. Can you teach an old dog new tricks? How do the long-standing, traditionalist breweries react to new trends in the German market? I sampled a couple at BrauKunst Live! At 44% (12,2° Stammwürze), Gerrit. What I had visited the booth for, however, was to try the Schlossbrauerei Au Eiskeller Rotweinfaß. And on to Fürst Wallerstein. No simlpe Barons here, but a proper Prince! Clear ambe...

The Bitten Bullet: The Session #101 - The material culture of brewing

http://thebittenbullet.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-session-101-material-culture-of.html

Every new beer is a risk. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet. Friday, 3 July 2015. The Session #101 - The material culture of brewing. This month's Session is hosted by Jack at Deep Beer,. Who chose the topic “ bottles, caps and other detritus. 8221;, a topic that seemed strangely apt for me, as Boak and Bailey kindly pointed out via Twitter, considering some of the stuff I had been tweeting about over June. She offered to give it away for nothing, as her parents were trying to clean out before m...

The Bitten Bullet: February 2013

http://thebittenbullet.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html

Every new beer is a risk. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet. Sunday, 3 February 2013. The last day of Christmas. I've been reliably informed that yesterday, Candlemas. Was the last day of Christmas in some traditions, so it's just as well that on the eve of Candlemas I succumbed to the temptation of a bottle of Hopfenstopfer Christmas Strong Ale 2012. I'll shorten that to HCSA). Well, that and it's probably a cardinal sin to drink out of season! Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

It will not be too often and I promise I will never post cat photos, no matter how grumpy. Secondly, there is the new address. The old. Is now in action.

The proof is in the barrel – The Smoking Bottle

https://thesmokingbottle.com/2011/12/14/the-proof-is-in-the-barrel

In search of great beer and fire cooked food. The proof is in the barrel. December 14, 2011. December 14, 2011. I’ve had a few chances to play around with the Gueuze barrel chips. Now and thought I’d share my findings (on both grilling use and beer use). The chips have been used to add some smoke to pork, fish, and numerous chickens. Result… Shocker, the smoke flavor is just like oak! Gueuze Barrel chips are great for a quick burst of smoke when grilling. Don’t bother using them for long smokes. Click to...

In search of great beer and fire cooked food. Daddy’s little helpers. January 20, 2014. January 20, 2014. First off, for the past couple years I have been using terracotta flower pot bases and tin-foil in my water pan instead of water. This is definitely nothing new. That alone is not enough to keep the fire under control. Luckily I now have the PartyQ from BBQ Guru. I installed years ago for my wireless Maverick ET-73. How I use the PartyQ:. In search of great beer and fire cooked food. February 8, 2016. February 10, 2016. Near her office, part of my brain woke up from its coffee coma. After 10 years I was addicted again. The smell of good coffee puts me in a euphoric trance. A complex melange of nuts, chocolate, leather, earth, tobacco, ripe fruit, leaves, and more. When something like that gets a hold of my imagination I want to dive into it. For their rotisserie (Only in Europe at the moment). It looked perfect. But would it work? On my f...

Sacred Beer: November 2010

http://saintlouisdrinksbeer.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Thursday, November 11, 2010. I can make stuff. I just made pumpkin muffins. I mean, I got a pumpkin, cleaned it out, cut it up, baked it, pureed it, mixed it with pumpkin ale and a bunch of other stuff, poured the mix into a muffin pan and stuck it in the oven until it became muffins. And they were delicious. If you knew what a terrible cook I was, you'd understand: this is significant. Maybe I'm not a cook, but a baker. That must be it. I am a baker. I bake. Feel the power.
