The Bees' Needs. Citizen Science for native bees and wasps of Colorado. Some plugs are simply a pile of Loose debris. Bark, seeds, dirt clods…) packed into the nesting tunnel. These take on the flavor of the environment they are created from. The key to these plugs is that there is no binder (resin or chewed vegetation) cementing the debris together. Rearing Blocks | The Bees' Needs

https://thebeesneeds.wordpress.com/rearing-blocks

The Bees' Needs. Citizen Science for native bees and wasps of Colorado. The nest plug data you collect provides lots of great information on the nesting of our bees and wasps, but species-level identifications require specimens. We also have the added benefit of collecting parasites associated with their host bee or wasp species. These host-parasite data are not available from the standard bee blocks that most our Citizen Scientists monitor. June 2, 2014 at 5:39 pm. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

What’s white, furry, sits in a bee block, and looks like a joke? Nest plug made from Plant Fuzz. Seriously, it looks like someone stuffed a cotton ball into the nesting tunnel(s). The Bees' Needs | Citizen Science for native bees and wasps of Colorado

The Bees' Needs. Citizen Science for native bees and wasps of Colorado. Colorado’s “newest” bee. August 5, 2015. The first specimen that documents this species in Colorado.
