http://www.theartofilm.blogspot.com/2015/01/art-in-film-to-look-forward-to-in-2015.html

Portraits of the Stars. Monday, January 5, 2015. Art in Film to look forward to in 2015! Happy New Year readers! I'm really looking forward to 2015, though I'm not exactly sure how much I will be blogging. In two weeks, I'm off to bella Roma. To start my own Roman holiday! Released December 19, 2014). Starring Timothy Spall and Marion Bailey. In the Bond flick Skyfall. Was central in the BBC's Sherlock. And the good old Temeraire. Appeared in the background of a Seinfeld episode. Story looks absolutely f...

The Art of Film : "The Barkleys of Broadway" Surrealistic Painting

http://www.theartofilm.blogspot.com/2013/02/the-barkleys-of-broadway-surrealistic.html

Portraits of the Stars. Sunday, February 17, 2013. The Barkleys of Broadway" Surrealistic Painting. In the final Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers pairing, 1949’s The Barkleys of Broadway. However, is not incredible. But it is enjoyable enough: especially the couple’s melancholy, lovely reprise of one of my favorite Gershwin tunes, “They Can’t Take That Away from Me.”. Is a wonderfully astute period piece: poking fun at existing Hollywood issues and illustrating Hollywood’s delusional postwar mentality.

Portraits of the Stars. Wednesday, June 5, 2013. Reel Connections: The Origins of Disney's Evil Queen in "Snow White" (1937): Joan Crawford, She, or Uta. Be posting about animated films, in a way at least. These posts will be found under the category of "Reel Connections:" clever, no? To begin, I'll start at the very beginning, with the first full length animated film, Disney's 1937 masterpiece Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. When I first saw Snow White. To be scared. Where did Disney come up with s...

The Art of Film : Moving Pictures: Kermit the Frog and Jim Henson Statue

http://www.theartofilm.blogspot.com/2014/10/moving-pictures-kermit-frog-and-jim.html

Portraits of the Stars. Thursday, October 16, 2014. Moving Pictures: Kermit the Frog and Jim Henson Statue. I came across this some time ago and I just think its a wonderfully fun piece, though certainly not an overly historic or thematically deep piece. I love my campus, but I can't help but wish that we had something this fun. The statue was sculpted first in clay before being cast in bronze. The whole sculpture- statue and bench- were put together in College Park in 2003. It still sits in its ...So, o...

The Art of Film

Portraits of the Stars. Wednesday, June 24, 2015. Words and Pictures: A Fitting Return. But, this is a real. Of course, all these scenes of creating art and all the art in the studio where this process occurs made me ask that classic question "who created this art? In Words and Pictures, I found a film that not only expressed the emotional context of the art of film, but also exhibited beautiful, powerful contemporary art with a known, even well-known artist. I'm back, baby! The Art of Film. I can't real...

The Art of Imperfection. For the Penny Pinching Fashionista. April 19, 2014. Between classes, I often find myself thrifting. What better way to spend an hour? Last week, I made my routine visit, just to browse and see what came in (plus I’m waiting for the day when I’ll be blessed with a double-deck cassette player). First I came across some lovely granny shoes, perfectly plum and perfect for working retail, but then I also found. March 31, 2014. I Appear to like Shorts…. February 26, 2014. It’s st...
