The Origin Story. | Balancing Diabetes

By ksparl on March 21, 2014. Last year, the team at Spry Publishing. Approached me about developing an idea, and from that discussion came. At first, I laughed (and cringed) at the title because I didn’t (and don’t) have diabetes balanced. And it was cool. So I spent many months fleshing out ideas, interviewing friends and family who are touched by diabetes, and tried to write a book that wasn’t a how to (because I cannot write a how-to still figuring out the self-how’ing) but more a how we do. Are avail...

We Gotta Have Faith: Dear Faith,
http://wegottahavefaith.blogspot.com/2010/11/dear-faith.html
We Gotta Have Faith. Cause sometimes it gets crazy around here! Wednesday, November 17, 2010. Well, Sugar Britches, we made it through the first year. There were times I wondered whether or not we would. November 17, 2009 changed our lives forever. You have been put through the ringer over the past 12 months, but you've handled it like such a trooper. Your daddy and I couldn't be prouder of you! You will go easy on me - that's going to be an interesting transition for both of us! November 17, 2010 at 4:5...

the bad diabetic: apparently I hate myself
http://the-bad-diabetic.blogspot.com/2014/11/apparently-i-hate-myself.html
Monday, 24 November 2014. Apparently I hate myself. So a few days ago I came across this. If you don't want to bother reading it and believe me it's a waste of a few minutes. It's basically summed up as I got hypothyroidism , pernicious anaemia and type 1 diabetes because I hated myself. Oh, and you can spot 'autoimmune types' by '. Not good enough as I am’.'. Should I show you what I looked like at my type 1 diagnosis? Trivialised such devastating conditions and laid the blame firmly at the doors of peo...

Our Type 1 Trip: JDRF Walk 2012
http://type1trip.blogspot.com/2012/11/jdrf-walk-2012.html
Our Type 1 Trip. Sunday, November 18, 2012. We had such a great time at the walk this year. The weather was amazing. So much better than last year's pouring rain. Team Julia was out in force in our hot pink shirts. Our team was very easy to spot all day. Julia designed them and she was so pleased with how they looked. I always feel so uplifted on walk day. It fills my heart to see our friends and family come out and support us. Find a cure, that would be really great," she said. I couldn't agree more.

http://ourlaughterandnoise.blogspot.com/2015/01/holi-daze.html
Just a Few of Our Favorite Things. Sunday, January 11, 2015. As per usual, the holidays seem like one giant blur as I look back on it! It's January 11th and I still can't even fathom that we're past Thanksgiving. But here we are, and even though it passed fast, I am so grateful for all the fun we got to have this year. We really got a lot of miles (and a little magic too) out of our holiday season! The boys both added to our turkey day prep, with decor of their own. Decoration at our house was in full sw...

Our Type 1 Trip: Never Say Never
http://type1trip.blogspot.com/2013/03/never-say-never.html
Our Type 1 Trip. Tuesday, March 5, 2013. Well it has happened, we have used glucagon. Thankfully it wasn't as harrowing a situation as it could have been. Typically glucagon is used when a pwd has such a low blood sugar that they are unconscious and unable to intake any fast acting sugar. Julia was never unconscious and I am very thankful for that. But it has definitely been a very long few days. It all started Saturday morning when Julia woke up with a stomach bug. This was not our first encounter.

Our Type 1 Trip: February 2012
http://type1trip.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Our Type 1 Trip. Thursday, February 23, 2012. About a month ago a fellow blogger wrote a post about her daughter's stuffed animals that have diabetes. I was inspired by her post (because all of my daughter's stuffed animals have diabetes) to look for a play pump for Julia to put on her toys. I found T and J Designs. And ordered two for Julia. One for her stuffed bunny and one for her Fancy Nancy doll. There is a mom on Facebook trying to get Mattel's attention so they can make a. Will they do it? Who kno...
