Teacher Turned Momma

Wednesday, August 12, 2015. Our Preschool Plans (K3). Well, I've given in. The more I plan and organize for Sophie's learning activities in the fall, I realize that we have crossed from Tot School to Preschool. So, here we go, we are officially doing preschool at home this year! Sophie wants to do Tot School/Preschool every single day except Sunday - and then only because we are not home in the morning! It will fall in place. I know this is a long list - we certainly will not do everything from all of th...

Teacher Turned Momma: December 2013

http://www.teacherturnedmomma.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html

Sunday, December 22, 2013. Tot School - Christmas. Sophie is 19 months old. Last week (and continuing this week) has been so much fun! We've done lots of Christmas activities in Tot School to celebrate the season. I've wanted to be very intentional about focusing our family on the birth of Christ this holiday season and have tried to create some activities that provide lots of opportunity to share that story with Sophie. I have been excited about this sensory bin for several weeks! I love how proud she l...

Teacher Turned Momma: October 2013

Wednesday, October 30, 2013. Sophie's Got a Secret. She's going to be a big sister in April! I'm due April 30 and am currently 14 weeks along. We are absolutely thrilled and feel so blessed. This is the best picture my squirmy little shy one would let us get last time. He or she was facing away but you can just barely see a face profile. So sweet! So, now you know why the blog has slacked off a bit in the last couple months - I've been completely exhausted! Monday, October 28, 2013. Sophie has taken off ...

Teacher Turned Momma: Tot School

http://www.teacherturnedmomma.blogspot.com/p/tot-school.html

What is Tot School? According to Carisa at 1 1 1=1 (pretty much the guru of all things Tot School). Tot School is focused time with your tot, exposing early learning skills through fun play.". Every week or so, I put several different activities, usually tied together by a theme, on a shelf for Sophie to explore. We "play Tot School" when she wants to (which is pretty much all the time - she loves the special activities she only gets to do with Mommy! A is for Apple (Fruit Theme). Tot School at the Beach!

Teacher Turned Momma: June 2014

http://www.teacherturnedmomma.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Friday, June 20, 2014. Tot School: A is for Apples (Fruit Theme). Sophie is 23-25 months old during these activities. We started our first letter "week" back in March. Currently, it is still sitting on our Tot School shelf! A lot has happened in our life between now and then, and changing out the Tot School activities just hasn't been priority! Fortunately, Sophie is still enjoying the activities, so it hasn't been too much of an issue. Letter of the Week: Aa. Object and Theme: Apples/Fruit. This probabl...

Teacher Turned Momma: August 2015

Monday, August 31, 2015. Tot School: Transportation Theme. Miles is 16 months old. I made a painter's tape road on the carpet for him to try to drive his cars along. He wasn't too interested in the road, but the cars were played with constantly! Spoon Transfer Vehicle Erasers. He loved these little erasers I picked up from the Dollar Tree. Spooning was a little difficult for him, but it was great for him to practice. Construction Vehicle Puzzle, Dump Truck with Blocks, and Vehicle Pop Beads. I was mostly...

Teacher Turned Mama | From classroom to living room and everywhere in between

The 411 on Yours Truly. From classroom to living room and everywhere in between. November 28, 2014. 8211; Finding a parking spot close to the door (not the healthiest choice, but oh so necessary come August) – “Thank you God for this spot”. 8211; When the bagger at the market double bags the heavy items – “Thank you so much for making sure I don’t drop all those groceries in the parking lot”. I can’t wait to thank him (or her) later! Our handprints that became the feathers on our paper plate turkeys.

Teacher turned mommy... not as easy as it sounds!

What summer means to me. Looking back on my life summer has had so many different meanings in my life. When I was a child: I remember summer being a time of freedom. Staying up late, playing outside, waiting for the ice cream truck. It meant bike riding, swimming and making up games with friends. It meant getting up early and staying out until the street lights came on. We went to soccer camp, community boating, and participated in other camps. Summer means a break from reality. When I became a mother to...

Teacher Turned Stay at Home Mom

Teacher Turned Stay at Home Mom. View my complete profile. Tuesday, May 5, 2015. I had such high hopes for May and June: trips to the arboretum that is literally 3 minutes away, afternoons at the zoo, exploring new parks. I wanted to give the kiddos an extra fun spring considering July and August outings might be slightly limited. Plus, we are strongly considering enrolling Isla in school for first grade, so I wanted to take advantage of all of our time together! Tuesday, April 14, 2015. The one thing th...

Teacher Turned Writer | Reflections on learning

Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Guest Blog-Persian Cat Press. Fail again. Fail better. April 8, 2015. A typical morning for me involves checking Twitter in general and the education news in particular. Sometimes I get excited, sometimes I sigh, and sometimes, just occasionally, I have to take a few deep breaths. This morning was one of the latter. I hear you ask. Because David Cameron is planning KS2 SATs resits. And the answer, ‘Labels are for jars, not people’. No matter. Try ag...
