Where is the Common Core for principals? | teachersthenewslave

https://teachersthenewslave.wordpress.com/2013/06/09/where-is-the-common-core-for-principals

This WordPress.com site is the bee's knees. Where is the Common Core for principals? Okay…I don’t actually want Stepford principals any more than I want Stepford students. The varied personalities and abilities add flavor to any classroom. However, the EXPECTATIONS of principals are often so varied and even contradictory from one principal to the next, it can leave me wondering if I have any idea at all of how to do my job! How often do you get a new principal? How do you adapt? June 9, 2013.

Dear Prez. | gaylecosby

October 31, 2016. I was proud to share the ballot with you in 2012 as an elected public school board member from Indianapolis, Indiana. Of course you were at the top of said ballot, and I was at the very bottom, but I digress. 🙂. Thank you for your consideration. Most respectfully and humbly submitted,. My thoughts expressed here are entirely my own, and do not reflect those of any other entity or group). What's happening with public education in Indianapolis. Guest Blog: IPS and Alternative Ed.

December 17, 2016. Tonight marked my last board meeting as an Indianapolis Public Schools commissioner. I have included a video of my closing comments below. This was but one chapter in my journey. I plan to continue advocacy for not only IPS, but the strengthening of public schools in general. Thank you to everyone who supported me in this journey, and who fought the good fight alongside me. On being silenced | gaylecosby

October 19, 2016. I don’t know Larry Vaughn on a personal level, and I’m not inside his mind, so I don’t intend to speak for him. What I do intend to do, though, is check some rampant white privilege gone awry on facebook. Some school board members have begun to circulate pictures of Larry while at IPS, and made the following comments:. So, let me direct you to the definition of blackface:. The “ soft bigotry of low expectations. 8220;, or the ousting of 706 Shortridge students. Lisa Delpit, a well-known...

Dark money clouds IPS election. November 7, 2016. More information on Stand for Children’s bankrolling of the IPS board election – this time from Steve Hinnefeld. Stand for Children is at it again. The Oregon-based education advocacy group is spending big money to determine who gets elected to the Indianapolis Public Schools board. That in itself could be cause for concern. But what’s really troubling is that the amount Stand for Children is spending and the source of its money are being kept secret.

There is nothing better about a new school year than a fresh start. We all have an opportunity to begin. With new students, new resources, new organization tools, and most importantly new collaboration efforts. Without collaboration in our classrooms we might as well hang up the towel. Our job is one that cannot be done alone. There is not such thing as walking into your classroom, closing the door, and. Without pulling our hair out. Working together is one of our favorite things!
