Tales of a Yummy Mommy

Tales of a Yummy Mommy. Friday, 6 January 2017. An outing with my three kids to Lil' Monkeys to meet up with friends this morning got my thinking about a topic that's been top of mind lately. Namely, how much support is too much. Support, or, inversely, too little. Support for a child with Down syndrome (I'm thinking particularly of my own child, because of course you can't group children with Down syndrome's needs all together! Going to without intervention, but I mostly think it's all in her head).

Tales of a Yummy Mommy: Celebrations continued

http://talesofayummymommy.blogspot.com/2016/11/celebrations-continued.html

Tales of a Yummy Mommy. Sunday, 6 November 2016. The birthday celebrations continued for Elyse today. Her grandma made her a special cake, and we enjoyed a pizza dinner in her honour.:) Thanks for all the love Grandma and Granddad, Aunt Alexis, Uncle Sean and cousins Julian, Aiden, Isla and Tilly:). When it was time to say goodbye, Elyse didn't want to go. She's getting used to this whole party thing. She was asleep within the first five minutes after we got into the car. I Know Youre Out There.

Tales of a Yummy Mommy: October 2016

http://talesofayummymommy.blogspot.com/2016_10_01_archive.html

Tales of a Yummy Mommy. Monday, 31 October 2016. What a fun day! We started off with a Halloween parade at school, then got to trick or treat as a family of five for the first time ever. Ariel and Elyse did great. We made it around our entire block - so many houses! Ariel proclaimed, "This is my LUCKY DAY! Sisters at school, happy to see their momma. Ariel, the mermaid. Wait, is that my mom looking at me. Big girls excited after school. Is that.a lemur? A lemur scratching Dan. Ready for trick or treating!

Tales of a Yummy Mommy: October 2015

http://talesofayummymommy.blogspot.com/2015_10_01_archive.html

Tales of a Yummy Mommy. Saturday, 31 October 2015. C'est L'Halloween - HEY! Ariel hand-made beautiful pumpkin pictures for each of her friends in the neighbourhood to go in their loot bags (a total of eight masterpieces - including one for her sister). On our way to trick or treating in downtown Georgetown. The corpse's hand twitched. Ariel asked me, "What's wrong with that guy? Queen Elsa in that scene where she gets upset and throws ice daggers. Halloween Storytime at our place before trick-or-treating.

Tales of a Yummy Mommy: Loud and Proud

http://talesofayummymommy.blogspot.com/2016/11/loud-and-proud.html

Tales of a Yummy Mommy. Friday, 4 November 2016. It's Canadian Down Syndrome Week, and we are shouting it from the roof tops, loud and proud! Dan wore his CDSS Canadian Down Syndrome Week t-shirt to work today for casual Friday, I sported mine out at the library, and the girls wore theirs to school. Our family is in a celebratory mood. Penelope will be four months old tomorrow, and Elyse turns four years old on Tuesday. We're birthday partying it up with family all weekend in her honour:).

Tales of a Yummy Mommy: February 2016

http://talesofayummymommy.blogspot.com/2016_02_01_archive.html

Tales of a Yummy Mommy. Tuesday, 23 February 2016. A few of my favourite things. A few of my favourite things. 1) Elyse's long, braided pigtails that fall half way down her body. 2) Ariel's artwork: expansive, colourful and bright. 3) Dinners out with friendly neighbours, and staying up past my bedtime. 4) The stirrings in my womb. 5) A good book, probably a memoir, followed by another good book. 6) Slow walks home from the bus with my girls. Both of them walking all the way. 16) Travel plans. Envisi...

Tales of a Young Mom

Tales of a Young Mom. Things never go as you planned! Monday, July 7, 2014. The Birth of Lane Hanson. This is the birth story of Lane Carter. If you don't want to read the long story or see the pictures he was born at home in our bedroom fairly fast and caught by my husband. He weighed 9lbs 10oz and was 20 1/2 in long. I was hoping for a smooth quick delivery but was also preparing myself for a long drawn out one like I had with Scarlett. The evening of October 14th I was busy making supper. It was a...

Tales of a Young Mummy

Tales of a Young Mummy. So, to try and abolish the stereotype of young mums I am documenting my life, the trials and tribulations of being a mum at a young age. Juggling school life with family life, and trying to find some time to relax and chill out! Tuesday, 12 February 2013. Two weeks ago I caved and listened to everyone telling me to go to the doctors. I was scared. Tyler came with me, and I'm so glad he did. Knowing he would be there waiting for me when I came out was so reassuring. Hugs from my li...

A Naturalist Writes – My blog about wildlife.

My blog about wildlife. January 9, 2017. The bird was only a couple of metres from me. The branch of the Scots Pine swayed precariously as it tried to find its footing, but it managed to keep its footing. The European treecreeper. An ornithological wallflower not much bigger than a wren. Not Britain’s largest bird, or the most colourful, or the one with the greatest vocal range. But without a doubt,in my opinion, definitely the strangest. What makes it so strange? But of course, there are several example...

Tales of a Zookeeper

Tales of a Zookeeper. The ark-hive called 2014. It's official. Another year has passed leaving so many memories and lessons in return. As usual, we were blessed to be able to find a rental home close to Tiger's school and in the same ward so we could maintain our church responsibilities and the children could go from 3 separate schools to all being in one. There was my rainbow complete with the sweet dove flying about me holding the olive branch. April proved to be costly (the 9th month in a row) as my t...

Tales of Baby McCabe

Tales of Baby McCabe. Monday, July 6, 2015. It's been so long since my last post. We thoroughly enjoyed June and many different summer activities. Such a different June than we experienced last year! We've gone to parks, the splash pad, a few wading pools, the MN Zoo, a bunch of walks (with Nolan cruising on his balance bike) and the lake. Here's the photo bomb! Hard at work at Daddy's new office. How I found William watching tv. 4th of July cuties. Fun day at the lake! Zookeeper Nolan wrangling a tiger.
