Saturday, March 28, 2015. Lucy, Knit Repair, and Re-Mastering a Technique. I’d like to share three vignettes today. Every Spring since 2008, I have purchased raw fleeces from Marie Glaesseman. She and her husband have a small flock of mixed breed sheep. They live near Duluth. They care for their animals. The fleeces are sheared well. Then they are skirted well. The result is beautiful, healthy, fun-to-work-with wool. I’m not sure what exactly happened next. Sylvia said something that woke up my...Round T...

Stone Sock Blog: December 2014

http://stonesockblog.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Saturday, December 13, 2014. I write knitting patterns. Not many, but some. And I sell those patterns. (You can find them on Ravelry. I would hope that no one would make copies of my patterns without my permission. I would hope that if a knitter is interested in knitting one of my designs then that knitter would be willing to pay a modest fee for the effort I put into the design and pattern. In the course of my knitting life, I have purchased many patterns. I mentioned one in a recent blog post. A couple...

Stone Sock Blog: New-To-Me Stitch Dictionary

http://stonesockblog.blogspot.com/2014/12/new-to-me-stitch-dictionary.html

Tuesday, December 9, 2014. I’ve mentioned before that I volunteer for a couple hours on Tuesday afternoons at the Almira Township Library. It’s a small library. Anywhere from 0 to 10 folks will patronize the library on any given Tuesday afternoon. I typically while away my three hours by knitting. The first 35 pages contain technical information. The rest of the book is filled with stitch patterns. Most of the patterns I’d seen before, many I’d knitted. But there were some that we...Her response was to a...

Stone Sock Blog: Out of Hibernation

http://stonesockblog.blogspot.com/2015/03/out-of-hibernation.html

Monday, March 9, 2015. This winter has been cold. Really, really cold. I love winter. I love snow. But as my friend, Sylvia, says, the cold has been “inconvenient”. So, I’ve holed up at home more than I normally would. I felt a bit frozen, figuratively speaking. But now is seems that Spring may actually arrive. It's time to wake up. Things are happening and I want to share. For one thing, I had another article published in Spin-Off. Interlochen College of Creative Arts. Is sponsoring a number of Spring a...

Stone Sock Blog: 2014 in Review

http://stonesockblog.blogspot.com/2015/01/2014-in-review.html

Thursday, January 1, 2015. Ok I just re-read my New Year’s Resolutions for last year. Some I kept, some I didn’t; just exactly like every To-Do list I’ve ever made. Despite not living up to all the items on the list, I feel pretty good about 2014. I did get several articles published:. Mastering Mawata/Spinning Silk Hankies” (2014) PLY Magazine. Issue 4, Spring 2014, pp54-57. Best of Both Worlds Fingerless Mitts” (2014) PLY Magazine. Issue 4, Spring 2014, p58. Issue 4, Spring 2014, pp59-61. High School r...

PieLadyStudio: Thunderstorms & Summer Rain

http://pieladystudio.blogspot.com/2013/08/thunderstorms-summer-rain.html

Friday, August 30, 2013. Thunderstorms and Summer Rain. The weatherman later said we received nearly 4" of rain that day! We bailed our little fishing boat, the big fishing boat and the neighbor's boat when I found it sitting on the bottom of the lake half full. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). PieLadyStudio: Halloween Costume

http://pieladystudio.blogspot.com/2013/11/halloween-costume.html

Monday, November 18, 2013. I couldn't let the season go by without posting my granddaughter, Emily, wearing her Nut Brown Hare costume. I had such fun making it for her and with her counsel. We had several fittings in the last days before Halloween. Such fun. She bounced and hopped so much the ears stayed floppy, but she liked them that way so no matter. I wonder what she will want to be for Halloween next year? November 18, 2013 at 10:09 AM. The costume and your Granddaughter! December 4, 2013 at 5:25 AM.

PieLadyStudio: Good Bye 2013 - Hello 2014

http://pieladystudio.blogspot.com/2013/12/good-bye-2013-hello-2014.html

Tuesday, December 31, 2013. Good Bye 2013 - Hello 2014. Where did that last six weeks go? Time to stop and smell the roses, er. um. snowflakes! The craft fair the end of November was a success. The turkey was delicious. An excursion to Kingston, Ontario was exciting. The Christmas tree is still up and hanging in there for one more week. In the meantime, we have partied and over-eaten, visited friends and did I say partied? Have a happy, safe celebration tonight and welcome to 2014. Pieces From My Scrapbag.

PieLadyStudio: Autumn Beauty

http://pieladystudio.blogspot.com/2013/10/autumn-beauty.html

Thursday, October 10, 2013. It is autumn again and who can believe how fast September flew by? Colors are becoming more colorful day by day. Notice the blue heron perched on the boat to the left of the dock. He fishes from that spot most mornings in the early sunshine. The last bouquet of glads of the season came from my favorite roadside veggie stand. December 4, 2013 at 5:29 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Traverse City, Michigan, United States.
