Variegated grey, stooping low over the huddled bush where everything is dark, mounting the staircase of the sky, clothing it white. On August 8, 2011. All this for an animal barely larger than a cat. I am in awe of fox; timid, graceful flame of our front yard. Every time I look there, to the place where it hung, wrangling in the air, a twist of flame, the squeeze of a bloody rag, I feel emblazoned.
