Ramblings of a librarian whose bun is wound too tight. Black, barking dogs. April 25, 2015. Some people have been contacting me and making enquiries because they’ve heard a part of a story from somewhere or other so I’m just putting this out there from the outset… I’ve applied for a further year off work. Leave without pay. 12 months only. I have not quit my job. Me as a youngster in the front yard of my babysitter’s house circa 1977. (I mostly just loved the Pekingese). At this point I have to say just ...

Ramblings of a librarian whose bun is wound too tight. SAHMthing different →. Black, barking dogs. March 20, 2015. Today has been the darkest day of a dark week. The darkness was caused by an overwhelming and emotional task which I just can’t seem to see an end to. There doesn’t seem to be a light at the end of this tunnel. The feeling inside me is a jumble of analogies. I feel hollowed out. The walls are closing in. Dogs are barking. Big, black, barking dogs. My name is Fiona and I have depression.

Ramblings of a librarian whose bun is wound too tight. A simple blog to occupy my time. June 30, 2016. I’m going to start with the Musical Challenge. The title of today’s post is taken from a lyric in the song, not the title as I have done with the other posts of #blogjune 2016. There’s a lovely sentiment intended … Continue reading →. Ramblings of a librarian whose bun is wound too tight. May 2, 2015. I would have entitled this post. On Death and Dying. But that’s been done before. How does this relate to death? Well, I’m available to play and sing for weddings and funerals and I tend to pretty much only get funerals. I think some people think it’s difficult or expensive to hire a musician/singer for weddings so they just opt for recorded music. (My rates are VERY reasonable.). I don’t often know the people I’m playing for...I want to...

Ramblings of a librarian whose bun is wound too tight. Newer posts →. Ca orgue pour moi. June 23, 2016. Today was my first day out and about after medically mandated bed-rest. I had intended to play for the funeral I was commissioned to do and then go home to bed. Intended. I was up when the alarm said it was time to take my antibiotics. That was an end to my rest. The day just snowballed from about 30 minutes after I woke. Snowball? No More like avalanche! Time to go home yet? June 22, 2016. I’m s...

Ramblings of a librarian whose bun is wound too tight. Black, barking dogs →. March 9, 2015. This post was written on March 7th but I was unable to post on that day.]. The day I first visited this cemetery was 8th March, 1987. My father was keen to show us the grave that he spotted as a boy. It stood, hunched over, at the gate of the cemetery. Its inscription left its mark on my father and his brothers and, I must admit, me too. It read. Good men all as you pass by. As you are now, so once was I. You are...
