Minutes of the June 2, 2015 Sipsey Wilderness Hiking Club monthly meeting held at the Bernice Hilton Walker Building in Double Springs. Members present: Bart, Charlie, Gary, Junior, Wayne. Charlie called the meeting to order at 7 PM. The minutes of last months meeting were approved; the treasurers report was given and approved. It was announced that the club has reserved the group pavilion at the Corinth Rec Area in the Bankhead for Saturday, July 11 for the annual picnic. The meeting adjourned at 8 PM.

Trail Maintenace

The SWHC in cooperation with the US Forest Service adopted trail 210, the "Mitchell Ridge", in January of 2001. The trail had been considered for closure due to the number of fallen trees blocking the path but we felt it could be restored. Unfortunately, soon after came the Southern Pine Beetle infestation followed by Hurricane Ivan in 2004. The trail was inundated with dead pines. There were stretches 100 yards long where you could walk on the downed trees without ever touching the ground.
