vanillabean knits: Stitched With Love
http://vanillabeanknits.blogspot.com/2009/02/stitched-with-love.html
There are some problems you can't fix. Not yourself anyway. You have to sit back, understand that you cannot possibly understand how someone may feel, and only offer thoughts and prayers. It's humbling, not knowing how to help a loved one, but just trying your best to do the right thing. I think we've all been there, and will inevitably be there often over our lives. I had to make a hang tag, which is probably my favorite part about homemade gifts. The button tab (sewn on, no button hole needed) really a...

What's Robin Up To?: Day 14 - Chobe National Park
http://robineiseman.blogspot.com/2013/10/day-14-chobe-national-park.html
What's Robin Up To? Sunday, October 6, 2013. Day 14 - Chobe National Park. The main attraction today was an afternoon safari cruise on the Chobe river. Chobe is different from the other places we've been bc it is a national park and therefore we have no idea what we are going to see. With the private game reserve, they knew exactly what they had on the property. Here, there's no way of knowing what you're going to see. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. What's Robin Up To?: Day 11 (part 2) - Soweto
http://robineiseman.blogspot.com/2013/10/day-11-part-2-soweto.html
What's Robin Up To? Friday, October 4, 2013. Day 11 (part 2) - Soweto. We learned about the student protest on June 16, 1976 against apartheid and the forced teaching of Afrikaans in the schools and sparked a nationwide riot. This protest led to the innocent killing of over 200 children over the course of 4 months. We went to the Hector Pieterson Museum, which commemorates Hector Pieterson, a 12-year old boy who died during the initial protest. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

What's Robin Up To?: Day 10 - Entabeni Game Reserve
http://robineiseman.blogspot.com/2013/10/day-10-entabeni-game-reserve.html
What's Robin Up To? Thursday, October 3, 2013. Day 10 - Entabeni Game Reserve. Day #2 of waking up at 5:30am. You know I'm great company these days if I'm waking up so early! That almost killed me! Aside from the dips and curves, we flew over giraffes, elephants, wildebeest, impalas and more. Can you see it? It's the green in the shape of Africa! Had to be about 15 feet away, tops! Tried to get a pic but it didn't work out so well. What a majestic animal! After the lion left us, we met up with our other ...

What's Robin Up To?: Day 15 - Chobe National Park
http://robineiseman.blogspot.com/2013/10/day-15-chobe-national-park.html
What's Robin Up To? Monday, October 7, 2013. Day 15 - Chobe National Park. This morning we were up early for our last morning game drive. While I hate getting up so early, I also hate the idea that my vacation is almost over. Until then, I won't dwell on it. Back to the game drive report! We saw several herds of 10, with babies, either eating or walking or even swimming (! I didn't realize elephants could swim. At the end of the day we saw at least 30 elephants on one of the islands in the river....In ad...

What's Robin Up To?: March 2011
http://robineiseman.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
What's Robin Up To? Monday, March 28, 2011. I've been busy the past couple months with a number of projects. In January I went to the Vogue Knitting event in NYC and picked up this neat fishnet yarn. It's Flamenco from Trendsetter Yarns. I just "cast on" 10 stitches and knit it up in garter stitch. Fluff it out and you've got this neat ruffled, lacey scarf. These socks are a basic 3x1 rib in Jojoland's Melody. This is almost done now. I'm working on the border as we speak. The next pictures I'll ...View ...

vanillabean knits: Necklace Holder...Finally
http://vanillabeanknits.blogspot.com/2010/12/neclace-holderfinally.html
I have been meaning to make a simple necklace holder for about 5 years. Just something simple, a piece of nice wood with hooks, and something in the back to mount it. How funny that when I did finally got around to making this, it only took about 2 hours. I found a gorgeous piece of wood that was 12 x 18", sanded it with our orbital sander (one of our favorite wedding gifts! And I like to joke, our tastes are maturing! If I get myself any more jewelry, Im going to need one of these! Shona LALA dex press.

vanillabean knits: Sugared Cranberries
http://vanillabeanknits.blogspot.com/2007/10/sugared-cranberries.html
Illustration Friday's topic this week is "trick or treat". This will be my non-submission participation for "treat". When I first had sugared cranberries, it was when I was still living in Florida. I had them at a party and had "just one more" fifty-seven times. You can't purchase superfine sugar in the South, so re-creating these was a lost dream. Years later, I moved to Philadelphia and. Made these little jems. Everyone loves them. Especially, Aimee. Who this recipe is really for! This recipe was from.

vanillabean knits: Purple Cables
http://vanillabeanknits.blogspot.com/2009/03/purple-cables.html
We had a cold spell in February. After the tenth time walking to work freezing my head off in a thinly knit hat (Rowan Felted Tweed), I attempted to rectify this situation. Ahhhh Warmth. Cozy. And huge! I think I love it. (Wink wink). In non-knitting news, I read The Soloist yesterday. I visited the Philadelphia Free Library to pick up books and kill time since I misplaced my housekeys (hopefully inside! And had to wait for Mike to get home. The Soloist happens to be the book that they've selected for.

A Hoboken Life, Blogged…. I am in my 8th month of pregnancy… swelled in belly and in gratitude for the little girl we’ll meet so soon. In some ways, the interesting bits and fascinating j0ys of pregnancy have taken up space in my psyche, pushing aside (but not away) memories of our experience with infertility. But then, just yesterday, something occured that made those memories push back and fight for their dominating space. Now, I walk quickly past that first waiting room, check in and quietly take my s...
