The difference between physio and biokinetics. When to come to SIC. Helene Simpson is an expert in her field and has been invited to speak at both local and international symposiums. She presents a number of workshops and talks to physiotherapists and biokineticists across South Africa. One and a half day workshop on ankle and foot injuries: immediate treatment and rehabilitation. Two hour workshop on manual treatment techniques for ankle and foot injuries. One hour talk on cuboid syndrome.

The difference between physio and biokinetics. When to come to SIC. SIC now offers a free walk-in service for full-time UCT students where we screen students with injuries. To date, we have seen almost 200 students through this service. In short 15 minute sessions we determine whether treatment is required or not. This service runs during UCT lecture term time from 8h30 to 9h15 on Monday, Tuesday and Friday mornings. The students will be assessed by a qualified physiotherapist. Tel: 021 686 7777.

She worked at Conradie Spinal Unit for three years, followed by a year of lecturing in spinal injuries at the University of Pretoria. In 1997, the practice became privatised with Helene as the owner physiotherapist. The practice was then opened to the general public as well. The difference between physio and biokinetics. When to come to SIC. Keryn completed her undergraduate studies in Port Elizabeth and her internship in Cape Town. She has worked at Claremont Hospital, SSISA, Virgin Active and Constantiaberg Medi-Clinic. She has been at SIC for over 10 years. Over the years she has been involved in most of the sporting code of UCT, from football to Capoira. She has a special interest in running injuries and biomechanics, having completed many long distance races herself.

In 2009 she was promoted to Accounts Manager. She deals with patients’ medical aid claims and queries. Her nursing background is a great help as she is familiar with medical terminologies. Judy trains daily with the Masters squad at Constantia Virgin Active and competes actively in Masters Swimming at a national level. Tel: 021 686 7777.

The clinic opened its doors in 1982 and biokinetics services were introduced in 1992. SIC is currently owned by Helene Simpson (physiotherapist) who worked at the practice from 1992 and then bought the practice from UCT in 1996.
