Sunday, August 31, 2014. Some things pretty much have to wait. I've figured out how to accomplish many tasks while I am recuperating, but there are a few things that are very tricky. Washing clothes and getting them back into the closet is a major pain. I bought a cart that I can use to get the basket of clothes to the laundry room, but then the rest is pretty difficult. I've decided that washing just a few things at a time might be better. I'll see how that goes. Sleeping is a struggle. I did snap a cou...

Tuesday, June 30, 2015. So, rabbits do an interesting thing in my yard, I've seen this twice now. The rabbit scrapes away the grass to get to the mud/dirt below and then lays there all stretched out. Maybe it has something to do with being cool? Temperature wise I mean. In the backyard, stretching out. Inside the ropes for the area I don't want mowed where I planted new trees. Time to research bunny behavior I guess. Thumper is pretty cool. Tuesday, June 30, 2015. Sunday, June 28, 2015. Music in the park.

Sunday, August 9, 2015. It's pretty hard to understand how humans reacted to mental illness in the past. This marker lays it on the line. The grounds are very well maintained and I believe this facility is still in use. This old bridge, no longer in use, was interesting. Two butterflies were engaged in play or warfare, not sure which, I tried my best to get a few photos. Since then, I have discussed with my photo club pals how to get a better picture next time. This US Post Office is a remarkable building.

Saturday, January 31, 2015. Jackson is a tough customer. Jackson plays tough defense. Today was my first chance to watch him play basketball. He played hard and tried his best. His team lost the first game but lost the second game. Good sportsmanship and learning more about the game seemed to the theme of this competition. It was my pleasure to watch alongside his Grandparents on both sides,. His little brother Jake, and also his Mom and Dad. Here are a few photos from today's action. Going for that ball.

Friday, May 29, 2015. It meant something to that one. I read a story once about a man walking on the beach and as he walked he was picking up sand dollars that had washed up on the sand, and he was gently tossing them back out into the water. A passerby said, "You can't save them all you know, you can't really do much about them dying." But as the man tossed one of the sand dollars back out into the water he replied,. Maybe not, but I made a difference to that one.". Yup, I made a difference to that one.

Thursday, July 31, 2014. Cardinal in Maple Tree. Sometimes I get lucky and take a photo that I really. Like or that someone else takes a shine to. In January of 2013, I happened to get a shot of a cardinal in the maple tree right outside my living room window. The white and gray background colors of January in Wisconsin were the perfect backdrop for this flashy fella. I used him on greeting cards and was delighted with the positive feedback I heard from friends. The framed oil painting is below. This bee...

Wednesday, December 31, 2014. It's evening in Rice Lake on New Year's Eve. And I'm getting ready to watch the ball drop in Times Square, as I do most years on this day. I'm thinking back on a year that brought unexpected events that will forever change my life,. And I know that the coming year will be a good one. It has been a couple of cold Wisconsin winter days,. But with sunshine, it's just not that bad. The birds have been so busy at the feeder,. And I'm glad that I can help a bit by keeping them fed.

Monday, September 29, 2014. A memorial for Ev O'Toole-Johansen. On October 25, 2014, at 5:00 pm,. There will be a memorial for Ev O'Toole-Johansen at the Luck Senior Center. This will be, at her request, a non traditional celebration of a life well lived. Earlier in the day, At 11:00 am, a burial ceremony will be held at the West Denmark Cemetery in Luck. Since there is a big gap between the two times, it may not work for you to be at both. That's okay. We are calling it an Afterglow. After my appointmen...

Life in Rice Lake, WI: How to take a photograph
http://lifeinricelakewi.blogspot.com/2015/08/how-to-take-photograph.html
Saturday, August 1, 2015. How to take a photograph. Nowhere, in anything I have read or learned about photography, is. It suggested that you line up your subjects up with the sun squarely on their faces and in their eyes, yet that is just what I did for Kyle and family. I'm spending the weekend in Lake Hallie, near Chippewa Falls, WI to watch Gage play baseball and to spend time with Kyle's family. It's perfect summer weather, and we found a nice place for lunch called The View right on Laker Wissota.
